Siegfried & Roy in talks for show
Siegfried
& Roy's
return to the stage at next year's "Keep Memory Alive" fundraising event
could end up as a television special.
Larry Ruvo
hinted at a
Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Rio on Thursday that
exploratory talks have been scheduled with a national cable network.
Siegfried & Roy
announced in February that they will come out of retirement for one
night to help fund the
Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, which is being built downtown. When
completed, it will be a national center for the prevention, early
detection and treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's,
Huntington's, ALS and memory disorders.
Lou Ruvo
was the longtime owner of the Venetian, a popular now-closed Italian
restaurant on Sahara that introduced pizza to
Las Vegas, according to Larry Ruvo, Lou's son.
Larry Ruvo, senior managing director for Southern Wines & Spirits, also
told the crowd of 300 that he's been contacted by a company that owns
one of the powerhouse TV networks. The corporate giant has expressed an
interest in taking a significant funding role in the institute, Ruvo
said.
