In our lives whether we work on the stage, in the kitchen or just raising the kids, we rely on people who give us the thumbs up. Without these types we falter or lose our way, our lighted path within our dreams darkens to an unclear path.
In the arts we are met with the question of how to move forward, which direction to take or even the dreaded IF we should move forward.
It is these “fans” that become an essential part to our future, not to give you the actual route or direction to take, but to simply say the magic words…..
“Good work, do more”.
Nothing unlocks the subconscious will like those magic words. They are the words that create pride, ability, desire, strength and even magic.
A 4 year old child paints a picture and brings it to you. You look at it and compare it 1st to the greatest paintings ever created. Picasso, Rembrandt, Van Gogh. Then we remember that these greats once created a painting at 4 that most likely look similar to the one just presented to you.
It is now that the “fan” has the power to build or annihilate, to squelch or to nurture.
They are the sun and the soil for this budding human being. A word of praise and hope will last a life time, create goodness, happiness, positivity and love.
“Good work, do more”.
In my life and in my career I have had the doubters that have held me back and created the dark side of my doubt and I have thankfully had the fans. The ones who said yes, go on, tell us more, do more, be more…..it is good, it will be better and one day great.

Bea Folgelman was a fan that kept me looking ahead and believing both in my ability as an artist and writer and as a human being. I am grateful to have had Bea in my life and will remember her words as I move ahead…. “You are good, some day you will be great, keep going, keep doing it”.
I will, thank you Bea….I will always be,….. your fan.
