These Boots are Made for Walking
The other day my friend Doralee, aka Lady Pink said, "It seems like these cowboys have a 'need for speed'." And she wasn't talking automotive. The games here are fast. The Pendleton Poker Round-Up happens semi-annually and they seem to want to get as much action as fast as they can.

We decided to take a morning and go downtown. Being at the Wildhorse is comparable to being on a cruise ship. You are here, there is no place to go but here and that isn't a bad thing. You meet people from all over. So we got off in the Pendleton Port and headed downtown. First stop was Hamley's Western Store. Saddle and leather craftsman since 1883 and in Pendleton since 1905, the store is a tourist stop with gobs of history. They are saddle makers to this day. Visit http://www.hamley.com/ for more detail. They also sell western wear, head to foot. Lady Pink was interested in cowboy boots and did she ever find them. She decided on a one-of-a-kind, red and black pair with the theme "Pendleton Round-Up". The Pendleton Round-Up also is the huge rodeo that comes to town once a year, as well as the name of the poker tournament. She was delighted but even more so when she got to meet the boot maker! It's not just everyday, even living in Las Vegas, that you get to meet a boot maker. To put icing on this cake of hers, Mr. Boot Maker is going to make Lady Pink a custom pair of pink boots with artwork that she will have an artist sketch. She has already decided on the Las Vegas sign and "Lady Pink" in script. About her first trip to Pendleton she has said, "The penny slots showed me no respect and the Omaha game showed me less, but meeting Lauren (the boot maker), and having so much fun has more than made up for it." That night, Lady Pink saw red. Oh Boy, did I get in trouble with her. I didn't mean to. Right now, I have to go play in the main event so the next chapter will be "Lady Pink Sees Red."
Update: I just spoke to a Hamley's rep. She explained that Lauren is the boot designer and the boot company that actually makes the boots is Justin Boots. Just didn't want anyone correcting my facts, but it is a fact - that night, Lady Pink saw red!
