Chairperson’s Corner

I want to begin by thanking each and every one of you for allowing me to serve you as your Chair. I am deeply honored and humbled by this distinction. We have started 2008 in a very strong way, having identified the Chairpersons for each of the Chamber’s standing committees, and having held our Board of Directors’ retreat that yielded the following goals for the year:

1. Secure economic sustainability

2. Increase business development and political empowerment

3. Strengthen Chamber’s foundation

The underlying thread in all of these goals is to continue striving for excellence in everything the Chamber does for you. From the educational scholarships we provide, to the future Hispanic leaders of Nevada, to the Business Expo, networking opportunities and our affordable and accessible health insurance program, your Latin Chamber has never been more committed to optimizing the value of your membership. We understand that our measure of success must be directly tied to how well your company prospers. For this reason, during the April monthly luncheon we unveiled some new initiatives to help your business grow. We want to be your business partner of choice. When you think of increasing your procurement opportunities and improving your access to key business decision makers, we want you to immediately think of the Latin Chamber of Commerce. Please help me spread the good word about our Chamber with your colleagues and friends. Let them also benefit from the programs and services you’ve come to enjoy. With your help, we will increase our business family. By so doing, we’ll capitalize on the generous offer from one of our Corporate Partners, Boyd Gaming. As an incentive for individuals and businesses to join the Chamber, Boyd Gaming has agreed again this year to match the first-year new member dues for Clark County companies. Boyd Gaming believes the economic development derived from this effort increases the vitality of our community while strengthening its commitment to diversity. I would like to close by thanking you for being a part of this great Latin Chamber of Commerce, Nevada. I appreciate your support, your involvement and for helping us expand our membership base. May God bless you and continue to bless your businesses and families.
