McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon in the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino

The holiday season is here! It began in October in some stores and last week I even saw Christmas trees in some homes. So, even with our hurting economy, there are still holiday parties to enjoy and company visiting from out-of-town. I have a place to recommend for socializing with your friends, family and colleagues.

McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon in the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is not just Irish bar, or nightclub.  It is so much more with some great food, atmosphere and service.

First, it is a fun place.  During the day and early evening hours, it is boisterous, social and loud but not so noisy that you can’t talk to people at your table.  There is a feel to the place that is casual and relaxed.  Tables invite conversation with warm lighting that allow you to see who is sitting next to you and the food you are eating.

Next is the incredible food.  The appetizers include Buffalo wings that are crispy and can be hot or mild and Almost Famous boneless wings basted in a tasty sauce.  My personal favorite is the Mac & Cheese Bites which are beer battered white cheddar cheese bites served with ranch or marinara.  The sliders were to die for!  These are gourmet mini-burgers topped with grilled onions, cheddar cheese and a McFadden’s special sauce.

If you insist on Irish food, the Shepard’s Pie is incredible.  Yes, it is an Irish staple but made McFadden’s style with slow-cooked beef in gravy with peas and mashed potatoes topped with shredded cheese.  You can have Irish Nachos which is homemade potato chips smothered in cheese, bacon bits and green onions.  The Irish Lamb Stew has tender chunks of lamb, slowly cooked with vegetables over a corn bacon hash.  Irish Onion Soup is a classic cup of slowly cooked onions in a brandy beef broth with a fresh baguette covered with Swiss cheese. While crab cakes are not technically Irish food, McFadden’s crab cakes are tender crab meat with yellow squash, zucchini and red pepper.

Their desserts are rich and decadent including Brownie a La Mode, a warm fudge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate sauce and freshly baked apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

I have to say that I have had the best Apple Martini ever at McFadden’s.  Of course, there is a full bar with cocktails, beers and wines for you to enjoy.  The service is impeccable with a friendly wait staff that adds to the fun environment.

This is still a time for celebrating and McFadden’s is a great place to create memories, whether over the holidays or after the New Year.
