Preceding the concert is a hosted champagne reception at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby followed by the Patron Dinner at 6:00 p.m. There will also be a reception in the lobby after the 8:00 p.m. opera concert.
Opera and operetta selections include "The Grand Finale II " from "Aida;" "Toreador" from Bizet's "Carmen;" "Deep In My Heart" and "Drink, Drink" from Romberg's "The Student Prince;" "Va Pensiero," from Verdi's "Nabucco" (which is considered the second National Anthem of Italy); The Wedding Chorus from "Lohengrin;" "The Anvil Chorus" from Verdi's "Il Trovatore;" and "La Traviata's" famous Act I "Libiam, amor."
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Puccini's birth, Tosca's "Te Deum" wIll be featured, along with Demetra George, two-time Grammy nominee who will sing an aria from "La Rodine," and Steve Plummer and Alisa Thomason will sing a duet from "Madama Butterfly." Plummer and Thomason are both local Las Vegas singers. Mr. Plummer has also performed for the Los Angeles Opera and The Redlands Bowl Music Festival. Alisa Thomason has also performed in New York City, The Utah Opera, The Festival Opera of Utah and The Utah Symphony.
Maestro Frank Fetta, Principal Conductor of Nevada Opera
Theatre and Dr. Myron Heaton, Director of The Myron Heaton Chorale will
conduct this performance. The "Nessun Dorma" from "Turandot" will be the
finale of the evening's concert.
Other soloists include Suzanne Vinnik, who will make her debut at Carnegie Hall, May 28, 2009; and Zellin Quinn Hollis, who is fast becoming an internationally acclaimed baritone, will return to Las Vegas from his current home in New York City to perform in Nevada Opera Theatre's "Classic Opera Concert." Mr. Hollis is best known to Las Vegans for his role as 'Scarpia' in Nevada Opera Theatre's production of "Tosca."
The Myron Heaton Chorale is celebrating the 19th season and in 2010 as a finale for their 20th Anniversary Season will travel to Denmark, Sweden and Norway to perform for 10 concerts. The Nevada Opera Theatre is celebrating its 23rd season that will feature a fully staged opera production on January 18th, 2009 at Artemus Ham Hall.

Famous
opera scenes featuring eight soloists and a fifty-voice chorus will
grace the stage on Friday, October 17th, 8:00 p.m., at The Doc Rando
Recital Hall in The Thomas Beam Music Center at UNLV. The Myron Heaton
Chorale and The Nevada Opera Theatre will join forces with their
combined talents to present an exciting evening of opera. A special
ticket price of $20 for students, seniors, military and the handicapped
are now on sale along with $30 for general admission.
