Ombudsman
for Consumer Affairs for Minorities Leticia Bravo is being honored this weekend
by the Latin Chamber of Commerce with a 2008 “Lo Mejor De Lo Nuestro” award for
Community Service.
Bravo is being honored by the Latin Chamber for outstanding community service on behalf of minorities at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Gala, taking place on Saturday, October 11, at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
“I am thrilled that the role of the Minority Ombudsman is being recognized in this manner,” said Ombudsman Bravo. “The Minority Ombudsman position is new, just under a year old. Yet, in that short time, I have heard from countless minority consumers who need help protecting themselves from deceptive trade practices.”
Ombudsman Bravo continued, “This award affirms how important it is that the State has an advocate dedicated to the needs of Nevada’s minority communities.”
The Minority Ombudsman’s primary duties include the design and implementation of outreach education activities in minority community locations. The Ombudsman also serves to increase awareness of deceptive trade practices throughout Business & Industry and assist the Consumer Affairs Division with consumer program goals. In her role as Ombudsman, Bravo also acts as Executive Secretary to the Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs.
