The 2008 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open kicks off a five-year commitment between the two parties to continue the tradition of a PGA TOUR event in Las Vegas. The collaboration between the Shriners and Timberlake to act as Title Sponsor and Host (respectively) promises to create a truly unique and world-class event for players and fans alike. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Drawing on some of the top names on the PGA TOUR, the tournament will offer a $4.1 million purse with the winner taking home $738,000.  Last year’s champion, George McNeill (who scored his first-ever PGA TOUR victory) will return to defend his title.

Both the serious and casual golf fan will applaud as some of the best golfers participate, combined with a host of well-known celebrities. Paymon’s Jeff Ecker Named Vegas’ Best Restaurant Employee

Jeff Ecker, general manager at Paymon’s Mediterranean Café and Hookah Lounge, was named Restaurant Employee of the Year at the first-ever Nevada Restaurant Association Culinary Excellence Awards Gala on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The honor was announced at a gala cocktail reception and dinner at the Ritz Carlton-Lake Las Vegas. Ecker is general manager of both the Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue locations of Paymon’s, the city’s best-known and highly awarded restaurant featuring Greek, Italian, Persian, Middle Eastern, Indian and vegetarian specialties.

Upon accepting the award from Gov. Jim Gibbons, Ecker thanked his staff for their unconditional support and professionalism in the last year, as well as owner Paymon Raouf.

“The irony in this award is that I don’t feel like an employee because Paymon treats me as a partner. For an owner to give away 100 percent of the operation is extraordinary,” said Ecker in his acceptance speech.

"These awards are exciting for us because it gives us a chance to turn the spotlight on some of the most deserving individuals and companies in our great state," says Paul Hartgen, president and CEO of the NvRA.

Paymon’s Mediterranean Café & Hookah Lounge is located at 8380 W. Sahara in the Great American Plaza, Las Vegas, NV 89117 and 4147 S. Maryland Parkway in the Tiffany Square Plaza, Las Vegas, NV 89119. For more information, call 702-731-6030 or visit www.paymons.com
