Titus Calls on Democrats and Republicans
to Work Together to Pass Energy Bill

Third Congressional District Candidate Dina Titus released the following statement urging Democrats and Republicans to put politics aside and work together to pass a comprehensive energy bill.

“I am encouraged that the House will debate an energy package that takes critical steps to address high gas prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.  The bill, which includes a number of provisions I have called for in my energy plan, such as offshore drilling, releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and investing in renewable energy, provides a real opportunity to address these important issues.

“I hope that Democrats and Republicans, including Jon Porter, will finally work together to pass a comprehensive bill that provides relief for Nevadans who are struggling to make ends meet due to the price at the pump, places our nation on a path to energy independence, and prevents Nevada from becoming a nuclear waste dumping ground.  It’s time for real leadership and real solutions, not more gimmicks aimed at scoring political points at the expense of the American people.”

Nevada Cannot Afford Failed Bush-Porter Economic Policies

Third Congressional District Candidate Dina Titus released the following statement on the failed Bush-Porter economic policies that continue to hurt hard-working Nevadans.

“Yesterday’s grim financial news is further evidence that the Bush-Porter economic policies have left middle-class families behind.  From Main Street to Wall Street, Americans are paying the price for their failed economic policies.

“Eight years of George Bush and six years of Jon Porter have done enough damage to our nation’s economy.  Jon Porter has voted in lockstep with President Bush and served as a reliable rubberstamp for policies that have resulted in record gas prices, record foreclosures, and record job losses.  The Third District can no longer afford Jon Porter or George Bush.

“As an independent voice for Nevada, I will work to take our state in a new direction by tapping into the abundant renewable energy that will stimulate our economy, create jobs, and put Nevada back on track.”
