Disco Hits The Desert

 

Desert Arena welcomes the catchy sounds and funky lyrics of Village People 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.

Celebrating 30 years as disco icons, Village People begins its 2009 world tour with mega hits “Macho Man,” the classic club medley of “San Francisco (You've Got Me) / In Hollywood (Everybody is a Star),” “In the Navy,” and its biggest hit, “Y.M.C.A.” In Sept, 2008 Village People received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Members include Alexander Briley as the military representative/GI, David Hodo performs as the construction worker, Raymond Simpson as the lead singer and cop, Felipe Rose is the Indian, Jeff Olson is the cowboy and performing as the biker is Eric Anzalone. Joining Village People is an American disco musical group of four sisters born and raised in West Philadelphia, Sister Sledge. The group’s biggest success came in 1979 with the popular dance anthems “We Are Family” and “He's the Greatest Dancer
 

Rose Royce will also take the stage with its soul, funk and disco sounds including three Billboard R&B Top 10 singles “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You” and “I'm Going Down.”
