Planning Commission Makes Recommendations To City Council
The city of Las Vegas Planning Commission elected new officers for 2009 at its meeting last week. Glenn Trowbridge was elected chairman and Richard Truesdell was elected vice chairman.
A
resident of Las Vegas for more than 30 years, he is a former director of the
Clark County Personnel and Parks & Recreation Departments. He is also serving as
the appointed planning commission member of the southern section of the Nevada
chapter of the American Planning Association’s board. A graduate of Leadership
Las Vegas, Trowbridge maintains a professional membership with Nevada Parks and
Recreations Association.
In 1999, Truesdell was appointed to the Planning Commission by Mayor Oscar B. Goodman. He served as chair of the Planning Commission in 2003 and 2005. A life-long resident of Las Vegas, Truesdell has been actively involved in the local commercial real estate market for the past 27 years. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, majoring in Hotel Administration.
The Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council and makes recommendations to the council on the city's master and special area plans, zoning applications and other related issues. The commission makes final decisions on variances, site plans and subdivision maps. It meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Las Vegas City Hall.
