If we allow our ego to convince us that we are a somebody, then spiritually we are a nobody. If we resist our ego and consider ourselves a nobody, then we most definitely are a somebody.

Today, focus on the qualities of humility, humbleness, and modesty. Be aware of the interdependence among all human beings, and of the vital importance of becoming team players in the game of life.

Spirituality isn't just about being nice. It's about transforming our not-so-nice qualities.

Always remember, it's not our positive traits that flip on the Light switch. The Light goes on when we identify, uproot and transform our reactive negative characteristics.

What light switch can you flip on today?

Anxiety fools us by creating an imaginary future that doesn't really exist.

For example, you might be anxious that flying will lead to a plane crash, so you avoid the thing you fear. Usually the bad thing hasn't actually happened to you, and probably never will. This can be true for anything from asking someone on a date, to speaking in public, to walking on a quiet street late at night.

What are you most anxious about today? Instead of imaging the worst case scenario, allow yourself the pleasure of imagine the best case scenario. Think how much you have to gain by thinking this way.

We all have regrets about missed opportunities of saying something to a loved one, due to either an unwillingness to be uncomfortable, an aversion to rocking the boat, or good old-fashioned pride.

Go to some one you love very much - with whom you've had problems - and tell them you love them. Before you open up, consider these three conditions :

1. Completely love the person and feel as if you are them in the moment

2. Believe there's a chance the person will change from what you're saying

3. Put your agenda on hold. Cut the strings of expectation and anticipate nothing in return.

Kabbalah teaches us that nothing happens in the physical realm that does not first occur in the metaphysical world. Think of the spiritual world as a computer and the physical world as a printout. The real decisions are made at the software level.

Practically speaking, this means decisions are made in the spiritual world at the level of consciousness. The emotional and physical maladies therefore arise from that level too. So to address the weaknesses in our lives, we must go back to consciousness.

What's running through your mind? Are you addicted to optimism versus cynicism? Inject positivity into your thinking today and allow room for healing of all sorts to occur.

There is a very fine line between suppressing our emotions and shutting down our reactive systems.

Restriction creates momentary struggle, but almost immediately there is calm and clarity. Suppressing emotions, on the other hand, creates long-term stress. Slowly, suppressed emotions gather force. Pressure builds, and eventually we blow!

Today, get in touch with your emotions. What are you holding in? Allow yourself to feel it. There is something there for you to learn.

There is a saying in an ancient spiritual book that goes like this:

If you make a mistake the first time, do not be concerned about it. Be concerned about it if you repeat it a second time. If you do something right the first time, do not pride yourself about it. Be proud of yourself if you repeat it a second time.

Today, focus on one good habit you wish to repeat tomorrow and one bad one you wish to repeal.
