HENDERSON, NV – Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., is hosting clinics designed to introduce people to the basics of horsemanship. A clinic for children and teens (ages 6–17) will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 (activity 274017-49), and a clinic for adults (18+) will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13 (activity 274017-51). Participation is $25 per person. Register online at cityofhenderson.com or at any City of Henderson recreation center.
The hands-on clinics feature topics including safety, catching, grooming, shoeing, tacking, mounting, and walking the horse. The instructional portion is held indoors; a riding demonstration will be outdoors. No previous experience is needed.
“These clinics are designed for those new to horses as well as those who have some experience but would like to brush up on their skills,” said Tanya Blackburn, Recreation Services coordinator, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Many clinic participants will move on to our horsemanship and riding programs, which are convenient and affordable.”
Valley View Recreation Center hosts a variety of horsemanship programs, including riding lessons and equine camps. For additional information, call 267-54060 or visit cityofhenderson.com.
