Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza

NFL HALL OF Fame great Dan Marino, now restaurateur, has brought Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza (of which he is a shareholder) to Las Vegas, the 18th one in the chain but the first one outside of Florida.

Anthony’s cuisine is unique in that Anthony’s prepares Italian recipes in an 800-degree, coal-fired oven, using a clean-burning anthracite coal, eco-friendly, to cook each pizza in just four minutes for a crispy crust. Their specialties also include coal-oven-roasted chicken wings, Italian salad and meatballs. Their signature dish is Eggplant Marino, thinly sliced eggplant coated in marinara sauce and lightly dusted with grated parmesan cheese—named after Marino (although it is not clear why this dish is named after him).

Anthony’s VIP grand opening party was held on Nov. 4 and it was packed. Over 200 pizza lovers came out to welcome founder Anthony Bruno, sample the food and meet, greet and take photos with Marino. The big trend was tweeting while tasting and posting the photos taken with the football great.

The restaurant décor is a catacomb of rooms with plasma TVs everywhere to catch all of the action. Anthony’s recently opened its full bar offering spirits and specialty cocktails in addition to wine, domestic and imported beer.

Happy Hour specials are weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and again from 11 p.m. to close. During Happy Hour guests will receive $2 off all glasses of wine and mixed drinks and $1 off all beer. Food is also served at the bar.

In October, representatives from Anthony’s and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada honored local news anchor Kendall Tenney with the restaurant’s signature “Well Done” award. The award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to their community. Anthony’s announced Tenney as the first award recipient in Las Vegas for his dedication and commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
