Each week we track the 5 college hoop teams that I have determined will show a “positive return on investment” by season’s end. Last year’s Pos 5 came in at 62% ATS. A nice chunk of change, come “March Madness.”
This year I have selected Cornell, Tenn., Siena, Minn. and the Cal. Bears.
This past week (as of press time last night) the Pos 5 went 3-2-1 ATS, for a small $$ win. On the year, we stand at 27 wins-18 losses-1 tie for a $1220 profit (based on $220 per wager). The Big Red of Cornell won 2 more games SU, bringing their season record to 9-2, however they did not cover in one game, against Davidson. This coming week they have one game, on Tuesday night vs LaSalle. They then have a couple of “cup cake” games taking on Penn State Erie-Behrend and then Bryant University. I’m sure there won’t be a spread for either game. On Jan. 6th they travel to Kansas to take on the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks. They will of course, be big “dogs,” but for our purposes, all they have to do is “cover.”
The Vols of Tennessee were ”mortified” by the up-start USC Trojans then went on to barely cover against North Carolina A&T. They have one game this coming week on New Years Eve at Memphis. Should be a fun one to watch. The Siena Saints, once more wore their “halos,” dumping the Rider Broncos by 22 points while laying 13 1/2. The Saints take on a couple of other “Saints” this coming week (St Joseph Penn. and St. Peters). Lets make sure we “pray”
for the right one. Then, would you believe, they play host to, on Jan. 2nd, Mount Saint Marys? The Golden Gophers of Minn. won and covered as a 28 point favorite vs. Penn. St. in their only game this past week. Next week they visit both Iowa and Purdue.
The Bears of California were not so “Golden” while coming up “short” to No. 1 Kansas by 15 for a “push” at a couple of “joints.” They face a “cupcake” foe in Utah Valley State this week, before beginning league play vs. the Cardinal of Stanford next week.
There, in capsule form, is a recap of the Pos 5 for this week.
Wishing us all Happy Holidays. See you New Year’s Eve.
And “wishing us nothing but net.”
