Hash House A Go Go?
What have I been up to? Fun with good friends, poker, and a "hat fashion show." I have some of the greatest friends. Bright, fun, funny, and absolute delights to be around.
When a "new one" is introduced to this wonderful "inner circle", those of us who have not met her are hesitant to cut loose and really be ourselves. As was the case a few nights ago when Doralee (aka Lady Pink) brought her houseguest Carol Lee Bishop to meet Hermie, Rowena, Shirley and I for dinner.

It
didn't take long to realize that Carol Lee was definitely one of us. We had the
greatest time at a great restaurant. Doralee had suggested - are you ready for
this? Hash House A Go Go. I had seen this place on West Sahara many times over
the years and never gave it much thought as by the name, it appeared to be a
greasy spoon with pool dancers! Five women walking into a strip joint had me a
little concerned but, I was up for whatever the majority decided.

Boy, was I ever surprised when we went in to a lovely restaurant, and delightfully surprised when I looked at the menu. We started with the best Long Island iced tea I have ever had and that is saying a lot as I make one hell of a Long Island! Back to the menu which we studied for quite some time as it is lengthy and entertaining! I will tell you that they call their vittles, "Twisted Farm Food." This description is about as misleading as the name of the place.

We started with Friend Green Tomatoes. Now that's farm food, or at least Southern food, but at the Hash House, it was served as a Fried Green Tomato Stack. This stack was indeed a stack on a stick or small sword of some kind and the fried green 'matos were stacked with chicken and goat cheese. Oh boy, I'm getting hungry just writing about this adventure. We also had Blue Crabcakes and pasta salad for appetizers. We all shared food and it's a good thing because the plates were gigantic and the portions matched! We shared Crispy Indiana Style Hand Hammered Pork Tenderloin, Chicken and Waffles, and Stuffed Meatloaf. Sounds unusual, is unusual, tasted great! We got dessert to go and headed to Lady Pink's house for a fun game of poker. Don't misunderstand, when I say fun, that doesn't mean we don't play for money. Playing poker for "fun" with no money on the table is like taking a shower while wrapped in plastic. What's the point? I wish I could remember the remarks made during this poker game that made me laugh 'til I hurt, but I was not the designated driver. Doralee put on a "Hat Fashion Show" and I thought I had a lot of hats! Her closet is like Hat Heaven.
A good time was had by all. I look forward to my next out of town guest. I will be taking them to Hash House A Go Go!
