The
City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting cleanup of the
River Mountains Loop Trail from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 21.
Participants will meet at Equestrian Park, 1200 Equestrian Dr. (at
Equestrian Drive and Magic Way) for transportation to and from the trail.
Registration and a safety orientation for the free event are from 8:00 a.m.
to 8:30 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring a hat, sturdy shoes, gloves, and
sunscreen. The Parks and Recreation Department provides buckets, trash bags,
water, and snacks. In order to participate, youth ages 5-12 must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian. Teens ages 13-18 must have a parent or
guardian’s signature on a waiver.
The purpose of the event is to encourage stewardship and an appreciation for
trails and open spaces. Participants will help to clean up and remove trash,
bottles, cans and other debris that not only detracts from the natural
beauty of the area, but also can be dangerous to wildlife.
The River Mountains Loop Trail is a 35-mile pedestrian, bike and equestrian
path that, upon completion, will connect Henderson, Boulder City, and Lake
Mead National Recreation Area with the rest of the Las Vegas Valley.
