The Masked Magician & Terry Fator

The Mirage Hotel has been home to Las Vegas’ most celebrated entertainment throughout the years, including world-famous illusionists Siegfried & Roy, The Beatles’ LOVE by Cirque du Soleil and Danny Gans.

The Mirage Hotel hosted a VIP/celebrity opening to introduce its newest superstar headliner on the Vegas Strip on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Simon Cowell called him “One of the best entertainers in the world.” Fator will headline at the Mirage 5 nights a week for 10 years.

Celebrity impressionist/singer/ventriloquist Terry Fator captured the hearts of America when he won NBC-TV’S AMERICA’S GOT TALENT in 2007. He has performed on OPRAH, THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, ELLEN DEGENERES, THE TODAY SHOW, LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY and in sold out concerts nationwide.

Fator’s show is very entertaining and appeals to all ages. It is wonderful to see an accomplished ventriloquist combine the art of ventriloquism with singing celebrity impressions, Comedy that is entertaining for the entire family. Fator is confident on stage with a genuine desire to keep his audience entertained. With his cast of characters he is sure to be an inspiration to his unique Art. Congratulation Terry Fator for preserving an extraordinary Art form called Ventriloquism.

When Magic Goes Wrong!

I am often asked, “Have you ever had a magic trick that went wrong”? The answer is YES many times! When it comes to magic and illusion as a rule anything can go wrong at anytime. There are so many elements to accomplish a magic effect that sooner or later something will happen that will go wrong. Sometimes the magician can cover up the problem and the audience may never know that something has just gone wrong. I have broken my ribs, toes, fingers, hands, knees, countless burns, cuts, lacerations and more all for the love of the Art. There are other times when you just cannot cover up the problem like in the video below.

I receive a lot of mail from fans from all corners of the world. I do my best to answer as many as possible. It is surprising that I receive such positive and supportive mail from both magicians and none magicians. This week I received the enclosed fan letter from Brendan that I would like to share with you:  

Thank you, for giving away the magic secrets on TV. I watch you every Monday night at 9/8c on my TV 13. I think your name is Val Valentino. I looked on Google Masked Magician and I saw all about you! I printed a picture of you and your assistants.

My name is Brendan. I am in Second Grade and I live in CA. I am very into magic. I really wanted to know the biggest secrets of magic. I did magic in a talent show at my school in first grade. I’ve been trying to do harder magic tricks and imagine doing magic tricks. I have a sister and we do the pose that you do with your assistance at the end of tricks.

The Masked Magician's Academy of Mystical Arts

The Masked Magician's Academy is the world's first Magic Organization established for anyone who has an interest in the Magical Arts. You do not have to audition, go before the board or be sponsored by an established member. You do not need to be a seasoned performer or highly skilled magician to become a Member. The Internet based Academy will offer an open forum for members to share and learn basic to advanced magic techniques for beginners to the seasoned professionals.

Feathering “New Generation Magician” Jonathan:

Introducing Jonathan he started doing magic a while ago and he caught on very fast. He feels he is not super slick yet but he is better than average at figuring tricks out. Jonathan is of the “New Generation Magicians” that I have been talking about. Here he performs and reveals the “Coin Through Hand”.

Val happens to be THE NICEST guy you would EVER want to meet. And I mean that- he put-up with death threats and people bothering his kids and the resulting divorce.

Masked Magician aside, Val is like a sweet, beautiful, loyal and warm friend. YOU would respond the way I have if you knew him. Now Sir, please, stand your ground and if you re-think things and feel differently, be true to yourself and honor your love of magic and do what you feel is right but seriously? Val is NOT a bad guy, and for whatever reason, he became the target (he turned-down the specials several times and finally agreed and the result has been good for you- you have a great opportunity now in magic. Maybe do your own special, make your own point, whatever, but know that television WORLD-WIDE is hot for magic now and it is because of him.

I am now completely re-thinking my thoughts about him now.

For one thing I don't know him personally and you do. Who am I to judge him?

I made this group a long time ago and I just decided to check it today.

I used to have this passion against him! lol

I had no problem with the show until they revealed the Walking Through A Wall thing. That just made me mad.

Val Valentino has done more for the popularity of magic than just about anyone. He's the best thing that happened to magic since the deck of cards. What with YouTube, it is all out there, only Val presents it in an entertaining way, protecting the integrity of the art. Besides- after most people see how an illusion 'is done' (one way), most forget... the ratings (even the reruns) are so big that it has allowed for all of the newer Masters of illusion and other specials. They owe that to the Masked Magician. So let me ask: Why doesn’t some group ever complain about the Network or Executive producers of the shows? or the writers? How about the magic assistants? No, all the stupid groups complain about is Valentino but- truth be told, every single one of these group joiners would JUMP at the chance to perform, to put on the mask. The result: Magic is bigger than ever!
