During the week-long national education initiative, various activities will demonstrate the positive role young people can have in making their schools and communities safer. With the support of several national premier youth-serving organizations, each day of the week will focus on a specific violence prevention strategy. These include promoting respect and tolerance, anger management, resolving conflicts peacefully, supporting safety, and uniting in action.

Las Vegas is proud to be an Earth Hour 2009 Flagship city

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, Las Vegas will stand in solidarity with the world to raise awareness about climate change. As part of this initiative, for one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. PST, casinos and hotels on and off of the iconic Las Vegas Strip will dim or turn off neon and flashing lights creating a once-in-a-lifetime viewing event. Government agencies, businesses and residents of communities throughout the Valley will join to support the cause by turning off their own lights and enjoying candlelit dinners or game nights, acoustic concerts, or simply taking advantage of the hour to spend it with family and neighbors.    We hope you will take part in sending a powerful message that Las Vegas cares about climate change and is taking action.   For up-to-date information on all things Earth Hour in Las Vegas including a list of participants, visit www.earthhourlv.org - See video below

Nick Cage is a favorite. You either like him or you don’t. I do. And I liked this film. He holds my interest by simply watching him ‘think’. That watchfulness of the camera for nuances of his facial expressions was the tactic used in the National Treasure franchise, and is employed in Knowing with similar results.
