Dear Members, Business Associates and Officials,
President's Seventh Year Anniversary Address
Well, here we are seven years later; the Women's State Chamber of Nevada
made its mark, and established a Legacy for women. Yes, it did not go smooth; we
had many obstacles and challenges along the way and financial difficulties. When
I established the first and only Women's State Chamber in the history of Nevada,
I had help from the biggest and best, the United States Chamber of Commerce in
Washington, D.C. If I learnt anything in a 19-year career and 32 years as a
woman business owner, is whatever your desire in life, learn from the top person
in that field and leaders of the business world.
My challenges for starting a Non Profit Women's State Trade Organization has
been the biggest challenge in my whole life. For the first three years I
personally financed the chamber and now it holds it's own, but we need to build
the biggest women's trade organization that the state of Nevada and the World
has ever seen. Remember, without power we have nothing, we have a lot of work to
do as women in Nevada and it will take all of us to accomplish this by uniting
not dividing. WCCNV started with zero and now to 358 members, that's a
good start but not good enough, we need 700 to reach our goal by July 2009 for
Federal help with our Women's Community Outreach Program and free business
education classes.
In my nineteen year career in (modeling, singing and dancing), and being taught
by the best in the career fields I was in was; In my entertainment career; my
parents, who performed professionally with all the late great stars in Country
Western Music and films for 33 years, they made me realize I had the best
mentors. In my modeling and dance career, I went on and learned from the top in
my modeling, dance and business ownership by mentor Nina Blanchard Talent
Agency, in those days Nina was the top Modeling/Talent Agent.
During the time of my first business venture, my own Modeling School and
Talent Agency, I stared a publishing company and still own it today (32 years
later). Once again, going to the top professional women in my magazine
publishing profession for mentoring was smart. The top woman in Hollywood
California at that time was non other then, Tichi Wilkerson-Kassel, former owner
of the Hollywood Reporter for over 65 years, she was from Mexico originally, so
for an ethnic publisher in those days was a big accomplishment especially a
woman. Tichi was also one of the founders of Women In Film non-profit
organization that I have belonged to for over 20 y years and still do today.
Why am I telling you about my story? You need to know the
background of your leader.I fulfilled my dreams and was successful at it, so
now, I am in the position to help other women reach their dreams and goals
whatever they may be. Anytime you need help, you need to know who to go for this
help. Anyone that is in a leadership position needs to know how to lead,
especially in today's economy. You need to know that persons background to make
sure they can help educate you to fulfill your Dreams when you feel the
challenges are a bit much at times. A leader has to be accomplished, has the
time to help you succeed and has the resources it will take for you to succeed
in your profession or career.
So, what I am telling you is, we all go through different ups and
downs in our career or ownership as woman (I have along the way), but we are
totally stronger and will make it through anything as long as you start the
right way from the beginning and have top mentors that will help you. If you
need help at anytime, just remember, we are here for you and we have a group of
seasoned professional members that will mentor you.
My charity is the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada dba, WCCNV
Foundation, (A Legacy for the Woman of Nevada) My businesses; ABC

you will need to run your career or business. You need to learn more about our
laws and bills passing through Nevada and Congress that will affect your home,
family, business. Our Government Affairs Committee will help you do that.
