“Sexting” Not “Texting” Teens

We recently read that approximately 20 percent of American teens are using their cell phones to exchange graphic images this is also called sexting .This is a very disturbing trend with young people, not only for its obvious reasons, but for the simple fact that once these images are sent over the air ways sometimes worldwide they can never be removed from public view. As a matter of fact anyone can pass it on to whomever they want for as long as they want.

Kids probably don’t understand why that matters right now…..they never really seem to think long term…..what are they planning on doing when they grow up….Become a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, the president?

Won’t that be sad if a student is looking thru the millions of easily accessible pornographic pictures on his or her  laptop computer and  sees their math teacher in a provocative photo that she sent to her high school boyfriend years ago when she was a stupid kid,,,,, oooops how embarrassing  would that be…..

Well that’s not all, now sexting can land you in jail. As more adults learn about this phenomenon, they are using a variety of tools to force kids to stop. At one end of the spectrum are parental lectures and regular phone inspections. At the other end, prosecutors in half a dozen states are socking it to minors with pornography and obscenity charges. A few prosecutors want the most outrageous sexters registered as sex offenders. So kids and parents beware, stop engaging in behavior that can and will alter your futures forever….keep the cell phones for verbal communication not visual stimulation…..
