Two Weeks Left of Court’s Month-Long

Moratorium for Bench Warrants

The North Las Vegas Municipal Court this month is offering a moratorium for bench warrants in an effort to reduce the number of open cases, currently at about 40,000.

North Las Vegas Municipal Court Administrator Debbie Miller said the court also hopes to collect on nearly $40 million in fees and fines from outstanding bench warrants.

“Given the tough economic times, if people come in for the moratorium, many of them could qualify for discounts or payment arrangements,” Miller said.  “People participating in the moratorium can clear their bench warrants without being arrested.”

The moratorium is available to people with outstanding bench warrants issued in North Las Vegas Municipal Court prior to April 1, 2009.  The moratorium began April 1 and will continue through April 30.  During the moratorium, the courts will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.  North Las Vegas Municipal Court is located at 2332 Las Vegas Boulevard North, Suite 100, North Las Vegas, NV 89030.

People with warrants still in effect after the moratorium will be subject to immediate arrest.

People with questions about their warrants can call 633-2929.
