The North Las Vegas Police Department with the City’s Municipal Court and City Attorney’s Office will hold the annual Senior Crime Prevention Awareness Day from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 29, at The Club inside the Cannery Casino, 2121 E. Craig Road.

The event will include information about personal safety, foreclosure scams, identity theft, and a variety of fraudulent schemes that often target senior citizens, such as telemarketing fraud, sweepstakes and lottery fraud and mortgage fraud.  Presentations also will cover topics in crime prevention.

Participants will hear from speakers representing the City’s Police Department, Municipal Court, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Secretary of State and North Las Vegas Justice Court.

The program aims to teach senior citizens how to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime.  The event is free and open to the first 300 attendees.  Attendees will receive continental breakfast and will have a chance to participate in drawings.
