The 19th Annual Epicurean Affair

It was the 19th annual Epicurean Affair at the Flamingo pool and gardens on Thursday, April 23 and what a night!  While in the past year, I have attended some events that unfortunately are down in both vendors and participants, I am thrilled to tell you that was not the case for the Epicurean Affair.

The Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association, the Nevada Restaurant Association and the Flamingo Las Vegas sponsor this annual event where top chefs and their creative staffs prepare samplings of menu favorites while beverage stations offer martinis, margaritas, fine wines and more. There is even comfort food and coffee for the end of a wonderful evening. Proceeds benefit scholarships for Nevada students pursing careers in the hospitality industry.

Below is a list of all of the participating restaurants, with every type of cuisine, dessert, drink and creation offered over a 15-acre area. How about foe gras lollipops?  Cubes of watermelon topped with a light lobster salad? My personal favorite, cotton candy was offered (from my childhood).  Hugo’s Cellar gave out roses, which is the tradition in their restaurant and half of the fun is running into friends, co-workers, colleagues and fellow foodies.

Everything was available until almost 10 p.m., the staff was courteous and the place was kept clean the entire time, considering the enormity of covering over 15 acres with a huge number of people eating, drinking and spilling.  There is no way you could try everything, so you can select new places like M Resort or James Beard award-winning chefs like Valentino or stick with your personal favorites (have I mentioned I love cotton candy).

Instead of going on and on – check out the photos and plan on attending the 20th Anniversary of the Epicurean Affair – it is guaranteed to be huge!
