Features Ways to Combat Stress and Options for Unpaid Employees When
Their Employer Has Gone Out of Business

upcoming episode of “Recession Rx” offers tips from local psychiatrist
Dr. Norton Roitman for combating stress brought on by the recession.
The new episode will also provide options for employees who have not
been paid by an employer that is no longer in business. The newest
episode of “Recession Rx” airs Monday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. on Vegas PBS
Channel 10 and 10.1.The half-hour,
locally-produced episode will also highlight one man’s fight to save his
neighborhood.
Hosted by Cathy Hanson, “Recession Rx” features topics ranging from
foreclosure and mortgages, to healthcare and unemployment, to job
searches and training. The program will also highlight resources to
combat common social effects of a recession, such as depression,
suicide, spousal abuse, substance abuse, poor mental health and family
living transitions. In addition to providing valuable resources, the
program features ‘success stories’ of people who have faced personal
financial crisis and prevailed.
Thirteen episodes of “Recession Rx” are scheduled to air in total and
each new episode airs Mondays at 7:30 p.m. on Vegas PBS Channel 10.
Community partners contributing to the creation of “Recession Rx”
include United Way of Southern Nevada, Nevada Public Radio, HELP of
Southern Nevada, Consumer Credit Counseling, Legal Aid Center of
Southern Nevada and United Labor Agency of Nevada. This program is
made possible by Bank of Nevada and Nevada JobConnect.
The weekly show is available on
www.VegasPBS.org/rx as an Internet stream and a downloadable
podcast. The Web site also features Vegas PBS produced videos of
classes on consumer counseling, including bankruptcy. “Recession Rx”
episodes will also be made available on YouTube.

For more than 40 years, Vegas PBS has provided
Southern Nevada with quality, commercial free programming, media and media
