Creative Dance Camp And Summer Intensive
Summer Session begins July
6 for all ages and levels; Adult Ballet begins on June 15.
Nevada
Ballet Theatre’s affiliated school, the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre, is
pleased to present its annual summer programs: Creative Dance Camp for ages
three through eight, the Summer Intensive for pre-professional students ages 11
through 18 and Summer Session for all ages and levels.
The
Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s Creative Dance Camp is the perfect summer
camp for young children. Beginning Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 24,
Creative Dance Camp will be held weekdays from 9 am to Noon. Taught by
instructors Katie Shea and Annie Hickey, daily activities include a creative
movement class where students learn rhythm, flexibility and coordination.
Students will also draw and design sets and costumes to be used in a performance
at the end of each week. In addition, the ‘Storytelling & Performances’ class
allows children to sing, dance and delve into their favorite fairy tales while
learning about dance. Students may register for one, two or three weeks of
Creative Dance Camp.
Beginning Monday, July 6 through Friday, August 14, the Academy will offer its
Summer Session of instruction for all levels in a variety of classes including
Me & Mum, Creative Movement 1 and 2, Primary 1 and 2, Preparatory, Hip-Hop,
Character, Tap, Modern, Beginning Ballet, Intermediate Ballet and
Advanced/Intermediate Ballet. Classes will take place Monday through Thursday
from 10 am to 5 pm.
In
addition, the Academy’s increasingly popular Adult Program will begin early on
Monday, June 15 through Friday, August 14, offering five classes a week:
Beginning/Intermediate level on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from
10:30 am to Noon, and Advanced/Professional level on Wednesdays and Thursdays
from 12:30 pm to 2 pm.
Finally, the Academy’s annual Summer Intensive is an invaluable three week
program for aspiring young dancers who wish to further their knowledge in the
art form of dance. Beginning Monday, July 27 through Friday, August 14 with 25
classes a week in Technique, Repertoire, Modern, Pilates, Variations and Ballet
History, the Summer Intensive offers students a focused environment in which to
advance their skills. At the end of three weeks, students will perform what they
have learned for their family and friends.
