Ode to Lafayette High School Brooklyn NY

I will never forget

My Brooklyn high school, Lafayette
It's where I met
My first sweetheart Yvette
It was there I had my first cigarette
Played basketball but always missed the net
On the school's track I also was no threat
I was better when playing with the chess set
I never liked working up a sweat
I hung out at the local luncheonette
In the back room we played cards & roulette
One guy always played the clarinet
So we created a singing quartet
I dropped out when I got an old corvette
Wanted to drive around with my new brunette
Her name was Annette
She was quite the coquette
Which sometimes made me upset
Spent so much money on her, I went into debt
Then she dumped me and joined the jet set
I bounced back when I adopted a loyal pet
Haven't found any girl this loyal yet
Gotta go now but don't you fret
I wrote this all down lest I forget.
