Vegas PBS’ “Recession Rx” Addresses Increase in Suicide-related Deaths, New Employment Opportunities and a Mortgage Lender Lawsuit
Last Monday’s episode of “Recession Rx” on Vegas PBS features information from the Clark County Coroner’s Office about the rise in suicide-related deaths attributed to the recession. Additional topics include union members retooling for new jobs in solar electricity and an employment update on CityCenter. “Recession Rx” also examines a major class action lawsuit against mortgage lenders, the first of its kind in Nevada, which is seeking aid for people facing foreclosure. “Recession Rx” airs Monday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. on Vegas PBS Channel 10 and 10.1. Hosted by Cathy Hanson, “Recession Rx” features topics ranging from foreclosure and mortgages, to healthcare and unemployment, to job searches and training. The program will also highlight resources to combat common social effects of a recession, such as depression, suicide, spousal abuse, substance abuse, poor mental health and family living transitions. In addition to providing valuable resources, the program features ‘success stories’ of people who have faced personal financial crisis and prevailed. Thirteen episodes of “Recession Rx” are scheduled to air in total and each new episode airs Mondays at 7:30 p.m. on Vegas PBS Channel 10.
