  Democrats rally for health care
  reform in Nevada, across U.S.

Our health care system is broken.  Insurance premiums are through the roof and forty-five million Americans don’t have insurance, either because they can’t afford the premiums or because they were denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions. And 470,000 Nevadans don’t have health insurance.

Reforming the system is the single most important thing we can do for America's long-term fiscal health. Huge costs are crushing businesses and families and leading us toward exploding deficits, weaker benefits, and millions more Americans losing their health care coverage.

The president is working hard to help pass real health care reform by the end of the year, a goal we know he can achieve with the key support of Nevada’s Democratic delegation, led by Nevada Sen. Harry Reid. But there are also ways every Nevadan can help.

Organizing for America volunteers across Nevada and the United States will take on community service projects in their neighborhoods on Saturday, June 27 to give back to the community and raise awareness about the growing health care crisis. For more information on a service project near you click here.

Our local group of OFA volunteers in Henderson are collecting healthy fresh, canned and boxed food for the Three Square food bank. Click here for more details on what kinds of food to donate. Donations can be made at Nevada State Democratic Party headquarters, 1210 S. Valley View Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89102 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the June 26. They can also be made at the home of David Heflich at 444 Raindance Place, Henderson, 89014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26.

The Nevada State Democratic Party and progressive groups PLAN and Pushback Network will host a rally in support of the health care reform at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the offices of WellPoint, one of Nevada’s largest insurers and a major opponent of Pres. Obama’s reform agenda. WellPoint, which has 35 million subscribers nationwide, has offices near the corner of Russell Road and Fort Apache Road, Las Vegas, NV 89138. Rally attendees should park along Fort Apache north and south of Russell.

Please join us for next Saturday’s rally in support of health care reform. To RSVP for this event please email rsvp@nvdems.com or call Adrian Matanza or Leora Olivas at 702-737-8683.
