In his 1926 story “The Rich Boy” F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me."  In fact, after last night I can really tell the difference.  

The Boss calls and says, “Check out the Hanger Party over at the Henderson Executive Airport”.  I ask her, what is a Hanger Party?  She says, “It’s food, booze, and jet planes”.  What a trifecta, I love ALL three. 

This was a Coming Out Party for a new company Lucky Jets.  Started in 2007 Lucky Jets flies private jets to all the HOT Spots around the world.  Lucky Jets calls itself a Private Jet Broker for passengers with similar itineraries.  You pay for a private jet plane, but you share the same plane with other passengers.  Is this an oxymoron, or just a different name for Southwest Airlines?

The planes are very small inside, and not made for fat people.  I had to crawl in the plane and my butt got stuck in the aisle between the two seats.  I would have included a picture, but the Boss runs a family journal, and this was not a pretty sight.  I’m not a private jet guy, I would rather be in a big comfortable seat, upstairs in first class on a 747, watching a movie and sipping on a Pina Colada. 

Lucky Jets is a different world of privilege and luxury that most of us will never see.  They provide an important service for business people who must get to obscure destinations not available by commercial carriers.  It must also fill the needs of powerful people and celebrities that cannot travel in public without being hassled.  Hey, if Lucky Jets wants me to do another story about their business from inside a plane at 41,000 feet, all they have to do is ask, I will do it. 

I spent the first 25 years of my life growing up in the small towns around Van Nuys, California.  Every Wednesday night for many years, I cruised Van Nuys Boulevard.  These days I rarely go back to my old neighborhood and at the Lucky Jets price of $2,299.00 one-way, I may never see Van Nuys High School again.
