Shiloh Horse Rescue and Sanctuary

Another Hot Day...

A hot muggy day today. All the chores were done...

Maverick is having a bout of Laminitis, probably due to the extreme heat. He has chronic laminitic feet but has been doing very well. He has been sore since yesterday and we are treating him for the pain and inflammation.

Fred Mertz, our wandering draft mule, has returned from the clinic where he had been kept while we were out of town. He is happy to be home and he is already back to his wandering ways.

We have a busy day tomorrow with people coming to see horses for adoption and a new arrival is coming. I bought a young Thoroughbred at the Barrett's Thoroughbred sale in Los Angeles the year before we started Shiloh. He was a super nice prospect horse, a Seattle Slew Grandson, who was bred by Monty Roberts. He was trained by my sister Sarah VandenBerg and later sold to one of her students. He was injured while competing in Combined Training last fall and his upper level competing days are over. He is coming to Shiloh where he will spend some rehab time in one of our pastures and hopefully he can eventually find another loving home for pleasure riding. I will post some photos of him once he arrives...
