Letterman vs. Palin

Submitted by: Danny Asher

Whatever your politics, Letterman did cross the line when he made reference to Palin's younger daughter being knocked up by Alex Rodriquez at a Yankee game.  He said: “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

It was, however, Palin's 14-year old daughter Willow who was at the game with her. I am by no means a fan of Palin's (quite the opposite), but this was too much for me and apparently most of America.

Letterman finally offered an apology albeit a week too late.

It might be time to throw the baby out with the bath water.  Letterman has run his course.   I might be forced to go to sleep earlier now...I never liked Letterman and Conan (NBC) is hard to take.

Would love to see Leno replace Letterman AGAIN...

OPRAH...

The time has come the walrus said..

BY: Mrs. Sy Baron

My personal opinion is that Oprah Winfrey has overstayed her welcome.

Her holier than thou attitude has played on my nerves for years.

Last year I was fortunate enough to be seated 2 rows behind Oprah at a Barbra Streisand concert.

There she was, Oprah and her puppet Gayle. Oprah held court before and after the show.  Intermission sent Oprah flying backstage.  She is just too full of herself for my liking.

She has the same two 'doctors' on her show touting their 'diet du jour.'

She expects us all to 'listen' and run out and purchase whatever it is she is promoting on a particular show.

For someone in her position, her staff needs to do more research before she hawks the day's wares. I remember back in 1989 she paraded the criminal Barry Minkow on her show describing him as a successful young entrepreneur.  A little research on her part would have shown he was a criminal and served prison time for his entrepreneurial scam.  Oprah was fawning all over him.

Oprah dear, a word to the wise should be sufficient.  Take your billions, pack it all up and go oversee your girl's school in Africa or go save the world.  Why don't you join the chatter boxes on The View.  But then again, they don't preach.  And none of those woman are 'full of themselves.'  Perhaps, that isn't for you after all.

You've worn out your welcome.  We are tired of seeing you. No gold watch for you....just go quietly and no one will even notice.

The Rinds Separated

Submitted by: Merri Kerri

We heard the Rinds are the best but there are some warnings.

Rinds are the outside shell of cheese that forms during the cheese making process. These rinds are natural and edible. You might not want to eat a rind if the rind has separated from the cheese.

As a cheese lover, I didn't know this and became so ill from eating separated cheese rind that I wound up in Sunrise Hospital's emergency room and admitted overnight.

If I, as a skilled cheese buyer didn't know about separated rind, I feel I should tell you out there.  A word to the wise.

Global Chamber of Commerce ???

Submitted by: Elizabeta Ristovska Petrovska

Dear Vegas Community,

Since I got an email for the Global Chamber of Commerce and a proposal to enter a free membership, please let me know if there is really such a chamber of commerce or is about a ID theft.

This is a web presentation that I received http://global.myncc.us/GCPresentation/index.htm and I gave a telephone number,

Thanks a lot,

Elizabeta

Dear Ms Elizabeta,

Good morning,

A member and friend, Marleen asked if I could answer your email, because I have been down this road many times.

I listen to the email and voice message that you sent Marleen,  after the woman did her intro speech, a man came on and was telling all about the Global Chamber and went on to say how it started, he went on to talk about the other chambers that where involved. Well when I heard the names, I said, Oh Boy Here We Go Again.

I thought this man went away, but I guess not, he found yet another way and yet another chamber name. We have had so many complaints about the National Chamber, Federal Chamber and now he started the Global Chamber, by changing your name does not change who you are, this man is something else. It's OK if you want to offer people MLM discount program service, but don't do it by destroying the formula of a "chamber" that is bad business practices.

I am so disappointed that people get to change the formula of what a chamber stands for, the Global Chamber is a subsidiary of the National and Federal which all do the same thing its an MLM discount program service. It's nice that these men want to help people with discounts programs and help other make residuals income, but don't use the "chamber" philosophy to do it.

I was outraged 1½ months ago about how they where abusing the system,  They just got in trouble for the name National Chamber and  trying to start chapters across the US and offer employment to people for positions, but they where charging them for those positions, FYI  "Chambers" do not have chapters and do not charge you for your job.  From there, they put an ad on Craig's List to hire a President for each chapter and where charging them $2,500 for that job and later would reimburse them. This is not good, I had three people, one from Nashville, Oklahoma and San Diego, asking why a chamber charged for a job, these are hard times and this was very unprofessional. The National Chamber of Commerce is not a traditional chamber and the name belongs to the US Chamber, FYI, Larry is not buddies of the real National Chamber of Commerce aka US Chamber of Commerce at all.

Once again I had to tell people this is not a traditional chamber, and as far as I know the US Chamber has not embraced him because he is not running a chamber in a traditional way. Larry is still using the National Chamber name that has belonged to the US Chamber for over 100 years. The Global, National and Federal non-traditional chambers offer free membership because they are an MLM Discount Program Service, they make their money on the backend. Meaning, when you sign up and start using some of the discount services they get residuals, think about it, if they sign up 500 free members and you tell people, and your people tell people, and all of you start using the discounted services, you make money but they get (BIG) residual checks, this is why they do not need to charge you a membership fee, and you receiving a discount on products or services. No traditional chamber and no business help.

I don't mind people making money, but don't use the "chamber name" to do it, if you say Global, National or Federal, people pay attention, right? Larry is very clever, I'll give him that, but using a chamber to make money is not professional at all, that's deceiving the public, that's why I have no respect for them as business men. They say the chamber offers you all these service, no they don't, you have to sign up online for each discount program you want, but now you opened a can of worms, why? Now your name is all over the internet and every tom, dick and Harry will be sending you junk mail, how do I know this? It happened to me, I never signed up personally, but my sales rep got talked into signing herself up and then she put me under her downline. I only found out when I got an email from a candle company, It's that easy to get trapped and, well never the less it was illegal and she got fired. I told them to take me off or I would file legal charges, you never sign up anyone without authorization from that person and especial you never use a Founder President & CEO of a chamber, very bad

We are a traditional chamber, we are the official Women's State Chamber for the state of Nevada (Legal, Official and have our own state seal). We are with the US Chamber, World Chamber (Global) for the past seven years. There are only two state women's chambers in the US that are stand alone. There are many little city spin offs as women's chamber alliance's but only two official state stand alone women's chambers.

As a traditional chamber, we have the local, state, national and global contacts to help the small business person. We as the Women's Chamber go one step further, with all types of services for women; contracts, job postings, grants, women business certification, business education, leadership programs, young professional women's programs, women's community outreach programs, women's scholarships, networking and much more. As a women's chamber we help protect women and answer questions like this one so women do not fall pray to businesses that go around the issue and not tell you all the facts. We also go one step further with our Government Affairs Department with keeping you up-to-date with legislation to help women and their businesses.

If you want to join a major discount MLM program service then do it  but remember (they just used the name "chamber" to attract people) they are not a Traditional Chamber.  For your protection, you need to join a traditional chamber and pay the small investment fee at least you know who you are dealing with.

The so called new "Global Chamber" is a business not a non-profit chamber trade organization, you do not have the important resources you need to run your business, you can go online and get these discounts programs yourself, but they do not have resources like a chamber.

I hope this helped you, and I am heartbroken that they keep deceiving people, they need to just tell them what they really do, it's OK to offer MLM Discount Program services, everyone is looking to save money and make extra money, but don't use a chamber to do it, that is telling you what type of people they are.

Good Luck, I hope I helped,

Dear June Beland,

Thanks a lot for the information that you provided me. My name is Elizabeta Ristovska Petrovska and I am an owner and CEO of the Business Education Center, a Member of Supervisory board of Macedonian Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Association of Training and Consulting Companies. Macedonian Chamber of Commerce (www.sojuzkomori.org.mk) is a traditional Chamber in Macedonia, whereas most of the member companies are private SMSs.

I live and work in Macedonia, and I do not want to enter any MLM network.

These people from the Global Chamber Of Commerce approached to me through a LinkedIn network. Later on, I was looking for information on Internet for that Chamber and found an article on the web site of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce about a potential ID thief. I was afraid because I gave them my telephone number.

I hope that they will not use my name in criminal activities. However, I really appreciate that you answered to me. I will send a letter and ask them to not use my name.

Thanks a lot for the provided help, once again. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you may need any help in Macedonia.

Sincerely Yours,

Elizabeta Ristovska Petrovska

Patriotic Retirement Plan

Submitted by: Frosty

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr.  President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing Americas economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

7 Don'ts After a Meal

*    Don't smoke-Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).
*    Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1 hr before meal.

*    Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

 *    Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.

*    Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease.  This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

*    Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true... Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.
*    Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

On the Road to the Cannes Film Festival

By: Sy Baron

The sixty second annual Cannes Film Festival is underway and this year for the first time my lovely wife was invited as an all expense paid guest of a film's director. It was a 'happen-chance' encounter outside, of all places, the ladies room at the Rio Hotel.

About 2 years ago my wife engaged a woman in conversation and the two women became fast friends.  Neither my wife nor I ever knew until the movie was near completion that she was directing a small independent film in Lake Havasu. She approached my wife to be her part time unpaid assistant.   As remuneration we were surprised that she invited my wife to Cannes as her guest.

She asked me to tell you all that upon her return next week she will write about her experience for this website.

Israel.. Obama Has It Wrong

Submitted by: Sy Baron

President Obama desires—as he should—to come across as confident and committed to the elements required to deliver peace between the parties in the Middle East. With the second half of this month of May dedicated to meeting with the region’s leaders, it is hoped that significant progress can be made toward ending the conflict between Israel and her Arab neighbors.

Obama’s formula for getting the often-stalled talks restarted, however, is based on a weak, mistaken, and miscalculated premise. Earlier this week, his Chief of Staff, the Israeli-born Rahm Emanuel, told delegates at the AIPAC convention that the ability to deal effectively with the Iranian nuclear threat was rooted in progress in the talks between Israel and the Palestinians. This has repeatedly been proven not to be so, and pursuing peace based on this belief will most likely head the process in the same unsuccessful direction as in the past.

Taken at face value, Mr. Emanuel’s statement means that if concluding a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians is delayed, as it has been in the past, then it’s understood that the Iranians can proceed to arm themselves with nuclear weapons. Iran’s going nuclear is not only a concern of Israel’s; it’s a matter of utmost urgency and troubling to Israel’s Arab neighbors as well, and they expressed those sentiments to Secretary of State Clinton on her recent visit to the region.

Implying that there is a connection between stopping the madman in Iran and Israel’s ceding territory for a Palestinian state is something between overtly simplistic and disingenuous. It translates somewhat like this: If the international community can get Palestinian policemen to stop working second jobs as terrorists canvassing West Bank roads with guns supplied by Israel, then they can possibly look to stop Iran. If we somehow can convince Israelis to bulldoze their houses of study and take down all those children’s playgrounds that dot the landscape of Judea and Samaria, then maybe we can address the Iranian nuclear weapons issue.

The imagery as well as the reality easily strikes one as being vastly incongruous. What Israel really needs to do—as it has needed to do for a very long time—is to communicate to the world a sense of the peacefulness and productivity of these communities and how it is extraordinarily misleading to feed into the idea that there is parity between kids playing in a West Bank schoolyard and Hamas firing rockets into S’derot.

If there’s ever been a failure in Israel, this is it. This idea that the existence of “hilltop communities” or “outposts” are on a par with firing missiles, suicide bombings, and Islamic schools preaching violence directed at Jews is way beyond absurd and should not be tolerated. Israel, however, not only tolerates it but also accepts it as rational and reasonable. And therein lies her leadership’s lack of courage and, hence, failure.

The AIPAC conference—the U.S.-Israel lovefest—is now over. All the right things were said about Israel’s future, the unique alliance between these two countries, the steadfast American commitment to Israel’s survival and security, and so on. Now all that’s left is for the analysts, pundits, and editorialists to figure out what all the carefully crafted words and jumbled phrases really mean.

Vice-President Joe Biden told the AIPAC convention on Tuesday that “you’re not going to like to hear this, but Israel has to freeze settlement building.” That, as you know, is nothing new. Israel has been told by the world—including the United States—that building settlements is an obstacle to peace for the last few decades. And many of Israel’s leaders concede that this may indeed be so. But it’s essential for Israel’s security. That is the real life-and-death security issue: that significant numbers live in the territories is what keeps Israel safe and strong more than anything.

While we don’t know what Biden really meant, we know that he said that there should not be additional building. That can be interpreted as meaning that those presently living there can stay put. And then there’s the debate as to whether natural growth of families or adding onto existing communities or homes in settlement communities constitutes building or expansion. Have a nice time figuring it out.

For his part, Prime Minister Netanyahu, who knows that this notion of a two-state solution is unworkable, tried to shy away from committing himself to the concept. For the time being, his associates and subordinates in government are saying that Netanyahu has done a slight turnaround and now endorses the idea of two states for two peoples.

Well, I don’t know if Obama knows it and I’m not sure he genuinely cares. What Bibi said was that a “two-state solution is the ultimate goal.” In 1979, Menachem Begin told reporters on a visit to Washington pretty much the same thing. What Begin said at the time was that he had hoped that there would be Palestinian autonomy—which meant a state, but in those days no one said the word “state” and “Palestine” in the same phrase. Begin said that he hoped there would be this Palestinian autonomous thing within five years. Sitting in front of a panel of reporters, Begin was pressed as to what he thought now that five years had elapsed and there was still nothing resembling Palestinian autonomy.

This is what Begin said: “I told you that Palestinian autonomy in five years was the goal. We just didn’t reach the goal.” How poignant and true. How many of us really reach all our goals? We work hard and endeavor to achieve, but at the end of the day all you can do is try your very best.

So, yes indeed, a two-state solution is the goal. No problem. And as long as we are on the subject, why is there a need for two states unless one state is going to be Jewish and the other Palestinian? Hasn’t the Palestinian leader, Mr. Abbas, already stated unequivocally that he will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state? Why the need for two, then? Won’t just one state do the trick under these circumstances?

Playing this game of turning diplomatic phrases is just the way it has to be. Obama continues to miscalculate as he breathes a sigh of relief now that Bibi has proclaimed that the two-state deal is “the goal.” (Wink, wink.) Inching close to anywhere near what the U.S. and Palestinians dream this new state will look like would instantly collapse the Netanyahu government. I guess, though, you’ve got to say what you’ve got to say.

While speaking to AIPAC on Monday night, Netanyahu added a new phrase to the Middle East lexicon. Bibi called his new idea to enable the two sides to move ahead a “triple track for peace in the area.” Get used to that one. The triple track consists of political negotiations, peace based on security for Israel, and building up the Palestinian economy. It’s the two-state solution on the triple track. And where did the prime minister get the triple track idea? Could it have been from an old Remington shaver commercial that promises a fresh and clean shave from its triple-headed electric razor?

Or is “triple track” the natural successor to “two-state solution,” which, of course has to be endorsed by the Quartet? Who knows five?

For now, leading up to Netanyahu’s meeting with Obama in the White House, everyone feels like they’re on the same page, even though they probably are not. But no one really knows for sure.

Great Dance Routine: James Cagney and Bob Hope

Bob Hope plays the role of Eddie Foy. James Cagney plays the role of George M. Cohan.

In our lifetimes we won't see talent like this again. So many, many, people thought Bob Hope was just a comedian. This will open some eyes about him.

Some doubters actually thought Jimmy Cagney, other than in his movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy", was a real, bonafide gangster. Years ago when he was at Warner Brothers, there were real threats on his life.  In truth and off-camera he was quite a comedian.

Whatever your own thoughts and ideas are, sit back and enjoy this. It's a great way to begin a day.   Or end it.

Poor Carmen Guzman

By: Anne Chovey

Carmen Guzman the mother of the woman police say was slain by the accused "Craigslist killer" said that today would've been her daughter's 26th birthday and her family is devastated by her death.

But instead of a birthday celebration, friends and family gathered at the Ortiz Funeral Home to remember the aspiring actress.

Inside, Carmen Guzman collapsed into tears as she stood by her daughter's open coffin.

Just a week before her death, she told her mother that she was going to Boston to meet a young man with a good pedigree, a medical student.

There is no grief like losing a child, especially by homicide. In this regard, I would like to suggest a website to Carmen Guzman and others who might feel the need.

Tribute to Little Anthony and the Imperials
Induction into the R&R Hall of Fame
Submitted by: Pepé Willie

My name is Pepe Willie and my Uncle is Clarence Collins, original member and cofounder of Little Anthony and The Imperials.  It is a privilege to honor Little Anthony and The Imperials and their incredible career.  They have made a profound influence on my life and on the lives of many other artists.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where Little Anthony and the Imperials started out singing on the street corners back in the 50s.  When I was 10, I realized that my Uncle was a member of this group who had a huge hit - Tears On My Pillow. I knew, at that moment, I wanted to be in the music business.

During the 60s,  Murray the K hosted Holiday Rock & Roll shows at the Brooklyn Fox Theatre.  Little Anthony and The Imperials performed at those shows along with a host of amazing artists. There was Chubby Checker, Patti LaBelle and The Bluebells, Dionne Warwick, Wayne Newton, The Righteous Brothers, The Motown Revue with Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Smoky Robinson & The Miracles, Mary Wells, The Four Tops and The Temptations and many, many more.

I was 16 at that time, running errands for all those stars. I would get them cheesecake from Juniors - World Famous Restaurant in Brooklyn, pick up their clothes from the cleaners, and let them know when the ½ hour was in.  What a gig!

My Uncle Clarence and the rest of the group showed me what was possible in life, giving me the opportunity to learn the music business from the inside out, and inspiring me to be a songwriter and musician.

I moved to Minneapolis in the 70s and began working with Prince Rogers Nelson when he was 15 years old.  I brought with me all the knowledge, and all the experience that was given to me under the wings of Little Anthony and the Imperials and I passed it on to Prince, Andre' Cymone, Morris Day, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Ricky Peterson and other artists in the Twin Cities, including my own group, 94 East..  Without Little Anthony and the Imperials' influence, there would not have been a Minneapolis Sound - it was the ripple effect from Brooklyn to Minneapolis.

The real legend of Little Anthony and the Imperials exists not only in their classic songs, extraordinary performances and 50+ years in the music business, but also in the profound influence they have had on the entire music industry.

RESODENCE Songwriters Circle at Sam Ash meet-up scheduled! www.meetup.com/lasvegassingersandsongwriters
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 from 6:30pm - 8pm located at Sam Ash on Maryland Parkway.

The meet-up in January was extremely successful. We had new members as well as more space to get in a cozy circle. Hence, the new name for the Meet-Up *RESODENCE Songwriters Circle. We took the entire 2 hours to critique each others songs and had a great time with all of the incredibly well written material that we had to work with. I am currently working on the Electro Voice company to come in and speak at one of our meetings concerning mic techniques and microphones.

Our meeting will take place on a Tuesday this month. We have tried a few different days so far. It is looking like Tuesday evenings from 7pm-9pm are going to be the best in order to keep the monthly meet-up consistent but we will continue to adjust when necessary. This meeting will include a songwriting exercise and of course the opportunity to try out our new material on each other. Get writing! :-)

WD-40. Who knew?

 Submitted by: J.R.

Before you read to the end, does anybody know what the main ingredient of WD-40 is? Don't lie and don't cheat.

I had a neighbor who had bought a new pickup. I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw That someone had spray painted red all around the sides. Of this beige truck (for some unknown reason). I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news. He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do. Probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.

Another neighbor came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off. It removed the unwanted paint beautifully. And did not harm his paint job that was on the truck.

I'm impressed! WD-40 who knew?

'Water Displacement #40' The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find A 'water displacement' compound. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.  The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts.

Ken East (one of the original founders) Says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you.
When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your stovetop ... Viola! It's now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed.

Here are some other uses:
1. Protects silver from tarnishing.
2. Removes road tar and grime from cars.
3. Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.
4. Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery.
5. Keeps flies off cows.
6. Restores and cleans chalkboards.
7. Removes lipstick stains.
8. Loosens stubborn zippers.
9. Untangles jewelry chains.
10. Removes stains from stainless steel sinks.
11. Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill.
12. Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing.
13. Removes tomato stains from clothing.
14. Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.
15. Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.
16. Keeps scissors working smoothly.
17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes.
18. It removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.
19. Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly! Use WD-40!
20. Gives a children's playground gym slide a shine for a super fast slide.
21. Lubricates gear shift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on riding mowers.
22. Rids kids rocking chairs and swings of squeaky noises.
23. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to open.
24. Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close.
25. Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards in vehicles, as well as vinyl bumpers.
26. Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles.
27. Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans.
28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for easy handling.
29. Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running smoothly.
30. Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools.
31. Removes splattered grease on stove ..
32. Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging.
33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs.
34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).
35. Removes all traces of duct tape.
36. Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve arthritis pain.
37. Florida's favorite use is: 'cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers.'
38. The favorite use in the state of New York, WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty From the elements.
39. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures. And you will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than the chemical attractants That are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though, Using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing Are not allowed in some states.
40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.
41. WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.
42. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone!
43. If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the moisture and allow the car to start.
44. Removes pricing labels adhesive, and tape adhesives.

P. S. The basic ingredient is FISH OIL.

 Flight 1549

As the personal stories of the 155 survivors of flight 1549 come to light, I hope someone comes forward and makes a movie of this event.  Statements like, "Thank you for not making me a widow," and the young man from Long Island who stripped naked and was the only person to actually get in the water and swim away.

The country is reeling from the economy and other negatives.  We need an uplifting movie...NOW !!!

This is not a Joke

Submitted by: Carol S.

Recently a man had his 5-year old German Shepherd put down due to liver failure. The dog was completely healthy until a few weeks ago, so they had a necropsy done to determine the cause. The liver levels were unbelievable, as if the dog had ingested poison of some kind. The dog is kept inside, and when he's outside, someone's with him, so the idea of him getting into something unknown was hard to believe. My neighbor started going through all the items in the house.

When he got to the Swiffer Wet Jet, he noticed, in very tiny print, a warning which stated "may be harmful to small children and animals." He called the company to ask what the contents of the cleaning agent are and was astounded to find out that antifreeze is one of the ingredients. (Actually he was told it's a compound which is one molecule away from antifreeze). Therefore, just by the dogs walking on the floor cleaned with the solution and then licking its own paws, it ingested enough of the solution to destroy its liver.

Soon after his dog's death, his housekeepers two cats also died of liver failure. They both used the Swiffer Wet Jet for quick cleanups on their floors. Necropsies were not done on the cats, so they couldn't file a lawsuit, but he asked that we spread the word to as many people as possible so they don't lose their animals. This is equally harmful to babies and small children that play on the floor and put their fingers in their mouths a lot.

Keep Walking.....

Just check this out......
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.

Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.
It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.
This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.

God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.  So, keep walking...

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, ga str itis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and men str ual diso rd ers, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

  1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

    2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes

    3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

    4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

    5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

    6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:

    1. High Blood Pressure - 30 days

    2. Gastric - 10 days

    3. Diabetes - 30 days

    4. Constipation - 10 days

    5. Cancer - 180 days

    6. TB - 90 days

    7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwa rd s - daily.

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.

It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life.

Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals ...not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed . It will slow down the digestion.
Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks
: Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm.

Todd Heisler - The Rocky Mountain News

When 2nd Lt.  James Cathey's body arrived at the Reno Airport, Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the  plane and draped the flag over his casket as

passengers watched the family gather on the  tarmac.

During the arrival of another Marine's casket last year at Denver   International Airport , Major Steve Beck  described the scene a s so powerful: 'See the  people in

the windows? They sat right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing  that they're on the plane that brought him  home,' he said 'They will remember being on that  plane for the rest of their lives. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they

should.'

Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News

The night before the burial of her husband's body,  Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket,  asking to sleep next to his body for the last  time. The Marines

made a bed for her, tucking in  the sheets below the flag. Before she fell  asleep, she opened her laptop computer and  played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and

one  of the Marines asked if she wanted them to  continue standing watch as she slept. 'I think  it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,'  she said. 'I think that's what

he would have wanted.'

Blue  Fridays

Submitted by: Johnny Kay

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing BLUE every Friday. The reason? Americans who support  our troops used to be called the 'silent  majority'. We re no longer silent, and are  voicing our love for God, country and home in  record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many  Americans, like you, me and all our friends,  simply want to recognize that the vast majority  of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops  with dignity and respect starts this Friday --  and continues each and every Friday until the  troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who  supports our men and women afar, will wear something blue. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a  se a of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances,  coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in BLUE and it  will let our troops know the once 'silent'  majority is on their side more than ever,  certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is: 'We need  your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something blue every Friday.

Incredible

Submitted by: Fred M.

The fact that the right-wing is venting some of the most outrageous, contemptible disparagement againist President Obama’s Stimulus package is incredible?

How easily they forgot about beating the drums for eight years for Bush to fund his $Trillion occupation, or by voting for EVERY tax cut (during wartime) and deregulating our banks and large corporations which is what got us in the mess we find ourselves in today.

Now that Obama, unlike Bush, has tried to be open-hand and as bi-partisan as a president that won so big could be, but the republicans are being their typical constructionists and are voting across party lines stubbornly.

The republicans were in charge for almost eight years, and they screwed up this country royally.

America voted their ideas OUT! Take a breather, maybe you can learn something from this intelligent man and the most phenomenal governmental team in decades that he has assembled!

Cell Phone Info

Submitted by: Fred M.

Things you never knew your cell phone can do:

First

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network; and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.  Try it out.

Second

Hidden Battery Power Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys  *3370#

Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

Third

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * #06#   A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.  If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally....

Fourth Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:   (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it to family/friends.

The Up Up and Away Guys and the Anesthesiologist

Submitted by: Mrs. Sy Baron

I've had surgery several times over the years and have always been as meticulous in choosing my anesthesiologist as I have been in selecting my surgeon.  So far as I am concerned the doctor who puts me out is more important that the one cutting me open.

Why am I talking about this now?  The recent plane emergency landing in the Hudson River brings to mind something I've repeated over and over to whoever will

listen.

I fly quite often and each time I do, I say I would like to choose my pilot NOT the airline or flight time.  Back in 2002 several Northwest pilots were arrested for flying

passenger jets while intoxicated.  Ever since then I wanted to know about the experience of the pilot who is flying my plane.  The pilot is the equivalent of my

anesthesiologist.  My life is in his hands.

I think each airline should have a 'pilot web site.'  The name and experience of each of their pilots. Just like you can 'google' a doctor/surgeon and get reports on their

background, education and if any sanctions were filed against them, we should be able to find out the same about the pilot with whom we entrust our lives every time

we fly.

When I go on the computer to make my reservation, I want to see listed the name of the pilot scheduled to fly that flight.  I know there are last minute changes, but most

pilots have a route and flights they fly all the time.

This will make the both the pilot and the airline take responsibility for who is behind the wheel of the plane.

There needs to be more accountability and public information available on each pilot taking us up into the skies.

I really want to know the background of anyone to whom I am entrusting my life on

any level.  I won't get into a car with a drunk driver, why should I get onto a plane with a driver a know nothing about.

I Wanna Know....Is My Pilot Inebriated?

RARE ADMISSION submitted by Sy Baron:

I concur with my wife on this one

Why is the pilot hidden on flights.  We entrust our lives to these people and yet we usually never see them.  I want to see who's piloting me across country many thousands of feet off the ground.

I think the pilots should do more than make a routine welcome announcement over the loud speaker prior to take-off.  Let's actually see them.

Is he sober or inebriated? A seasoned pilot or a rookie on his maiden flight?   I want to know.  I have a right to know.

At the boarding gate there should be a closed circuit large screen TV monitor.  Prior to boarding we would see a short video of our pilot talking to us.  He would welcome us and briefly tell us in a minute or two about his experience and wish us all well.  Just like he does over the loud speaker on the plane.  Only this time we can see him and learn about this background directly from him.

Then, once everyone is on board and seated, just moments after the doors close (before push off) the pilot walks once up the aisle, smiles from side to side, says a few words to random passengers and retreats back into his secure cockpit.

We can see if he's wobbly or reasonably sober and we also have his background info from the video so we can take off our shoes, kick back and relax.

OR....... if enough passengers think he is unfit to fly, we can tell the flight attendants and not take off.

We need to really know & see who is piloting the plane we are in.

Additionally, on some restaurant tables there are comment cards for diners to fill

out evaluating the service they received.  There definitely should be

similar comment cards for passengers to fill out on the service and attitude of the crew.

Alaskan Clydesdale

This picture does make some sense, as moose are kind of goofy and stupid looking animal.

Only in Alaska… This guy raised an abandoned moose calf with his horses, and believe it or not, he has trained it for lumber removal and other hauling tasks. Given the 2,000 pounds of robust muscle, and the splayed, grippy hooves, he claims it is the best work animal he has.

He says the secret to keeping the moose around is a sweet salt lick, although during the rut he disappears for a couple of weeks, but always comes home.... impressive!

Senior Social Security & Bernard Madoff

Submitted B\by: Seymour Baron

  • Bernard Madoff, was arrested and charged on Thursday with allegedly running a $50 billion "Ponzi scheme" in what may rank among the biggest fraud cases ever.
  •
  • A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to investors out of the money paid by subsequent investors rather than from profit.

In the Social Security system, the money you pay into the system is immediately paid back out to the people who are currently getting Social Security checks.  (It is NOT a savings plan where YOUR social security are put aside for YOU.)  In short,  the social security tax deducted from YOUR paycheck is used to pay a current retiree.

In 1935 when Roosevelt instituted the system and for a long time after that, it worked well because there were many more people paying into the system than there were who were collecting.  Since there were many more workers than retirees so the system worked great.

But now the Baby Boomers (born 1946 to 1964) are retiring and they strongly outnumber the amount of workers.

This is going to cause the social security system to fail.  In order for the system to work, more money needs to be collected from the current workers, than the system pays out to the retirees.

South Shore Barbers

Submitted by: Patrick J. Murphy

Went back home for the Christmas/New Year holidays.  Couldn't wait to get my haircut once again by Frank or Tony who I dubbed, "The Scissor Magicians."

It's been several years since I've gone home to Quincy, Massachusetts and had a 'real' haircut.  Tony and Frank are still there and as well as many changes.  Women, lots and lots of women.  Manicures, pedicures, facials...womanly gossip.

After hearty handshakes and bear hugs, Tony sat me down.  He wanted to hear how I like living in Vegas, but I wanted to hear about when and why these changes came about in MY barbershop.

Tony explained it's all about the economy.  The shop no longer wanted to limit their clientele to just men.  He continued to say how ladies spend much more than men on their hair and grooming than men do.  The shop was on the edge of closing because of the bad economy when they decided it would be prudent to welcome women.

There was something special about this all men's barbershop that is gone forever now.

The financial crisis America now finds itself in has worked its way from the big auto giants down to my little barbershop. So sad.

South Of The Border, Down Mexico Way

Submitted by: Sy Baron

The Mexican wetback problem will continue so long as no changes are made.  While there are huge and pressing issues awaiting Obama, the illegal border crossings into Texas need also to be addressed. The border fence will not help.

In my humble opinion, we should discontinue our 'catch & release' program.  As things are now when illegals are arrested they are released right over the border..

NO GOOD!

We need to physically take them deep into southern Mexico at least 500 to 1000 miles south of any border town.   By doing this, they will not just turn around the next day and come back.  And when word spreads what we are doing, fewer and fewer wetbacks will come across because they know if they are caught they will be far away from their families with no revenue to come back north.

About Area Code

Submitted by: Bonnie Spano

We actually received a call last week from the 809  area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly…. I have something important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809. 'We didn't respond'.

Then this week, we received the following e-mail:

Subject: DON’T DIAL AREA CODE   809,  284  AND  876

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T DIAL AREA CODE 809

This one is being distributed all over the US. This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.

Be sure you read this and pass it on.  They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc. In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls.   If you call from the US , you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute.

Or, you'll get a long recorded message... The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24,100.00

WHY IT WORKS:

The 809 area code is located in the Dominican Republic. They are not regulated by the US laws.

The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.

Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam

A Woman's Point of View/ You're Point

I didn’t find the video funny or necessary.

With that said, I also don’t appreciate as a republican being called a racist either, and you need to apologize for your name calling remarks as well. I don’t happen to know of any rats that jumped shipped. But I heard a lot about Mickey Mouse voters on your side.

There was plenty of unnecessary things said during the election from both sides.
I didn’t hear any outcry over all the negative and hateful things (called satire) that referred to John McCain an Sara Palin from democrats. No, that was freedom of speech and expression?

In fact most of the race issue came from the democrats continued excuse to use the race card against republicans every chance they got.

The fact is the election is over, but apparently your name calling and finger pointing of "the race card" isn't. Its time your side got over it.

Viagra & The Warlords

CIA agents are offering the potency drug Viagra and other gifts to win over Afghan warlords in the US-led war against Taliban insurgents, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

Paying for information is nothing new for the Central Intelligence Agency, but officers have started employing unusual incentives to persuade Afghan local leaders to share intelligence about the Taliban's movements, the Post wrote, citing unnamed sources in the spy service.

"Whatever it takes to make friends and influence people -- whether it's building a school or handing out Viagra," one CIA operative who has worked in Afghanistan was quoted as saying.

CIA agents have offered pocket knives and tools, toys and school equipment, travel visas, medical services including surgeries and sometimes the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra for Afghan chieftains, the paper said.

The aging chieftains often have up to four wives and are open to the Viagra pill as a way to "put them back in an authoritative position," said another official.

More customary bribes such as cash and weapons can create problems, because guns fan fall into the wrong hands and a sudden influx of cash can draw too much attention, agents told the paper.

Four Viagra pills transformed the attitude of one influential 60-year-old warlord who had been wary of the United States."  He came up to us beaming," one official told the Post."   And after that we could do whatever we wanted in his area."
