Nevada Opera Theatre’s Annual Holiday Celebration
The Nevada Opera Theatre Guild held a beautiful Holiday Celebration luncheon at Maggiano’s Little Italy in the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip. The Nevada Opera Theatre is a successful professional opera company incorporating a fine balance of classic opera, operetta and musical theatre productions.
The event started with a hosted reception and silent auction as Santa Claus welcomed guests. As guests socialized, holiday carols were performed by the Nevada Opera Theatre’s Chorus.
A festive delicious luncheon was then served with a menu that went on and on as each entrée was served family style. During lunch, Master of Ceremonies Dr. Morton Hyson introduced Nevada Opera Theatre soloists who performed. The delightful, Demetra George (who flew in from California for this event), Ben Litvinoff, Lance Taubold, Suzanne Hart and Dr. Morton I. Hyson thrilled the attendees with their magnificent voices as Pier Marini, pianist, ably accompanied them. Kiki Kalor in a Santa outfit had the audience involved as she festively sang and danced around in the Christmas spirit.
A silent auction with outstanding gifts and a raffle created excitement as the winners were called. The proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the production of “La Boheme” set for Sunday, February 14th in the Artemus Ham Concert Hall. Eileen Hayes, artistic director and founder of the Nevada Opera Company has assembled an international cast for this production. The afternoon event will begin at 1:20 p.m. with a pre-opera lecture presented by Maestro Frank Fetta. The performance of “La Boheme” follows at 2:00 p.m. After the performance there will be a reception in the lobby.

May 9–13 — Cinderella performance for Clark County Elementary Students, Shelters and Salvaton Army Children.
June 13 — Madame Butterfly production at 3 p.m.
Sunday, June 27 — the Divas and Divos Membership Luncheon at Cili Restaurant at 11 a.m.

The Nevada Opera Theatre’s Guild is a group of hard-working individuals dedicated to promoting and contributing to the Nevada Opera Theatre. In addition to the Holiday Celebration Luncheon, the Guild hosts several events that have become a tradition. They are: The Opera Gala, The International Friendship Luncheon, Meet the Artists Luncheon, Patron Receptions, and Holiday High Tea.
A long list of acknowledgments were offered to supporters and volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to Eileen Hayes and Karen Scherer, chairman of the Nevada Opera Theatre Guild, for all the good work they do for the Nevada Opera Company.
