January 15, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District released the following statement today to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which is observed on Monday, January 18.
“On Monday, January 18, we commemorate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Let us take this day to remember the extraordinary life he lived and the contributions he made to our country through his strength, wisdom, and perseverance.
“Although we have come a long way since Dr. King spoke of his ideals, his work must continue to live on through our words and our actions. As Dr. King said, ‘change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.’ Not only on this day, but every day, we should strive to perpetuate the dreams and aspirations for a better nation that Martin Luther King embodied.”
