John Herschel Glenn, Jr. (born July 18, 1921) is a retired United States Marine Corps pilot, a former astronaut and United States senator who was the first American and third person to orbit the Earth. Glenn was a Marine Corps fighter pilot before joining NASA’s Mercury program as a member of NASA’s original astronaut group. He orbited the Earth in Friendship 7 in 1962. Birth of the Peace Symbol, February 21, 1958...

The internationally recognized symbol for peace was originally designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement. It was designed and completed on 21 February 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a professional designer and artist in Britain for the 4 April march planned by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC) from Trafalgar Square, London to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in England. The symbol was later adopted by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). Klip It For Kidz Returns in March,
Raising Funds for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation


Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada along with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Fire Department are proud to present the 2nd Annual Klip it for Kidz on March 13, at Town Square Las Vegas, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This special event will benefit the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's programs and services for critically ill children and their families living in Southern Nevada. We are expecting to welcome over 1,500 people. [More Event Info and Pledge Form]
