EARTH HOUR

Earth Hour 2010

EARTH HOUR takes place Saturday, March 27th at 8:30 p.m. and is an event in which millions of Americans will turn out their lights for one hour in support of action on climate change and toward creating a cleaner, safer and more secure future. A record 20 states, 65 cities and 11 counties in the U.S. will dim their lights for Earth Hour 2010.

2010 marks the third year of the EARTH HOUR, which attracted more than 80 million participants in the U.S. last year, and nearly a billion people around the world. Outside the U.S., WWF said they expect more than 800 cities in 80 countries to take part in EARTH HOUR 2010.

For the second year in a row, casinos on the Las Vegas Strip will turn off marquee and non-essential exterior lighting for the event.

United Way’s “Earn It Keep It Save It” collaborative is offering FREE tax preparation services to those who earned less than $49,000 in 2009 at a “Super Saturday” event, supporting early e-filing.

WHEN:
          Saturday, March 27
          Open to the public, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
