Tell Them—Make Their Day!

I
decided, after busting out of the Orleans HORSE tournament five from the money, to take myself out to dinner. Since TGI Fridays is a few steps from the Orleans poker room, that was my choice. I have been going to Fridays since my days in Atlanta when the first one opened and that was decades ago. I swear, I have never had a bad meal at Fridays. So I enjoyed my meal while reading a good book.

One of the poker dealers had told me that he had seen me wear a lot of good looking outfits in the years I had known him, but the one I wore today was tops. I wore purple from head to foot, and if I do say so, with the weight loss and the purple; I looked pretty good. He made me feel great.

After I finished my Mahi-Mahi and paid my bill, I was on my way out when a table full of ladies stopped me. They all wore the same blue shirts and were in town for a basketball game or something. They were from Indiana. One said, “We just want you to know that you look terrific.” Another one added, “It takes a real woman to, not only have dinner alone, but to sit in the middle of the restaurant, wearing a purple hat, and reading a book called, Check-Raising the Devil!” Another one added, “We admire you and wanted to tell you.” Thank you ladies from Indiana! You made my day!

Let this be a lesson. If you see someone who turns your head or makes an impression on you, tell them, it could make their day!

BTW: Check-Raising the Devil is Mike Matusow’s autobiography and a great read!

On another Orleans subject: the old man with the stinky half-smoked cigarette is now putting it in his pocket, rather than on the poker table. Seems someone had a little talk with him.

Also, the latest from the Orleans, the Sunday night HORSE tournament is now $75 and they have a new weekly tournament, a shoot-out event. Buy-in is $125, Sat. nights at 7 p.m. How it works: the structure is regular (not like a rushed one-table satellite). First place moves on to the finals and second place pockets $250. As far as I know this is brand new to Las Vegas.
