Henderson’s Teens-N-Training Summer Program

Provides Valuable Life and Job Skills

Summer Youth Programs

March 23, 2010 – Henderson, NV – Teens looking for an enriching summer experience can apply for the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Teens-N-Training (TNT) junior leader program through April 26. Applications are available online at cityofhenderson.com and at all City of Henderson recreation centers. Participation is open to teens ages 14 and 15. Space is limited and applications must be received by April 26.

The goal of the TNT program is to train teens to become future recreation leaders and to provide assistance with the Parks and Recreation Department’s summer programs. TNT encourages self-confidence and positive communication skills in teens. Responsible teens selected to participate will be assigned based on skills, interests, availability, and location preference.

“This is an excellent opportunity for teens in our community because it gives them hands-on experience working with children in our Jr. Kids Zone, Kids Zone, and Camp View Time summer programs,” said Xanie Gann, Recreation Services supervisor. “Teens able to make the commitment for the entire program session will gain life and job skills that will give them an advantage in high school, in college and in the job market.”

Participating teens will attend a training workshop, which focuses on communication skills, leadership, conflict resolution, and program policies. Parents will also be invited to participate in a workshop that explains the TNT program and outlines expectations for teens’ behavior and responsibilities.
