A Tea Party With Ann Coulter

L
Ann Coulterast Saturday I left the house a 1:00 p.m. to pick up my buddy Ronnie. We were excited about seeing one of our favorite political pundits, Ann Coulter, at the Tea Party rally in the Henderson Pavilion. We waited in line for two hours until the gates opened at 3:15 p.m.

We rushed to find a seat, and waited until almost 5:00 p.m. before Ann Coulter took the podium. Instead of insights and analyses of our country, her entire performance was just jokes, and sometimes fowl, distasteful jokes about our past and present leaders. Where Bill Clinton put his cigar in an intern, or Teddy Kennedy spilling his drink as he rolled over in his grave.

We were expecting the Barrack Lecture Series, and got a Las Vegas lounge act. Maybe we shouldn’t be so unrealistic; today jokesters and entertainers now pass for serious statesmen, and lawmakers. However, how are we ever going to reach our “Better Angels” if we remain in the gutter?
