It’s Time For Movie Madness

April 15, 2010 – North Las Vegas, NV – A night at the movies doesn’t have to mean paying for high-priced tickets or wading through sticky floors to sit elbow-to-elbow at the theater. In North Las Vegas, families can grab their blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy a free movie under the stars.

The City of North Las Vegas and Cox Communications present Movie Madness, a series of fantastic films shown free at the park. Movies are shown on a large mobile movie screen. Food and refreshments will also be available for purchase.

The first showing will be “Up,” at dusk on Friday, April 23 at Eldorado Park, 5900 Camino Eldorado Blvd.

Additional program sponsors include Grace Point Church.

Municipal Court Warrant Discounts Generate More Than $450,000

April 12, 2010 – North Las Vegas, NV – The North Las Vegas Municipal Court has collected more than $450,000 in fines related to bench warrants, since offering a 50 percent reduction on warrants paid in full. The court has closed more than 2,000 cases under the discount program.

The discount began in March and will be extended through April 30, in an effort to collect nearly $40 million in fines and to reduce the number of open cases.

“We have found people recognize we want to help them get their cases resolved, and we appreciate their efforts to take advantage of this limited discount program,” Court Administrator Debbie Miller said.

Even after the discount offer ends, people who receive warrants have a variety of options for closing their cases, paying fines and getting court dates if there are court-mandated requirements. People who receive warrants may qualify to be placed on a payment plan or sign up for the work program. Additionally, for people who are unable to appear at the court, resolving their cases could be just a phone call away.

For more information, call the North Las Vegas Municipal Court Warrant Division at (702) 633-6116.
