Henderson Launches New Online Calendar

May 5, 2010 – Henderson, NV – Residents looking for information about city events and public meetings now have access to a redesigned online calendar on cityofhenderson.com.

The page launched today and is an online informational tool to what is happening in Henderson. This is the first makeover for the online calendar since it was launched in 2001. The redesign was a collective effort between the Department of Information Technology and the Public Information Office.

"We hope that our on-line visitors will find this calendar and our website increasingly easy to use," said Mayor Andy Hafen. “We want to provide the best services and amenities to our residents, and this is another tool to help deliver information to them about the great things going on in Henderson. Whether they want information on a cultural event, sports programs or council meetings, this new calendar will help them find the information they want about our city.”

Motivation for the redesign was prompted by a recent resident assessment survey which showed residents prefer to receive information about city services and events directly from the city of Henderson.

“The changes made to the calendar were intended to make it simpler for people to access,” said Bud Cranor, public information manager. “We have a lot of great things going on in our city. This just makes it easier for our residents to find out what great opportunities are out there for them and their families. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access the information they want about our city.”

New features include an integrated overall look with the rest of the site, a search feature, images of seasonal events featured in the image banner at the top of the page and a pop-up window delivering additional information when a user rolls their cursor over a listing.

The redesign was completed using internal resources and with no additional cost to the city.
