Flag at Capitol to be flown at half staff to honor Arm Specialist Matthew Hennigan
July 8, 2010 – Carson City, NV – Governor Jim Gibbons has ordered flags at the Capitol Complex in Carson City to be flown at half staff on Sunday July 11, 2010 in honor of United States Army Specialist Matthew Hennigan of Las Vegas, Nevada. Specialist First Class (SFC) Hennigan was killed in a firefight June 30, 2010 in the Tangi Valley in Afghanistan.SFC Hennigan was a 2007 graduate of Silverado High School in Las Vegas. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday July 11, 2010. SFC Hennigan was 20 years old.
“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the friends and family of Matthew Hennigan”, Governor Gibbons said, “His courage and commitment to freedom will never be forgotten.”
SFC Hennigan was assigned to the 173rd Special Troops Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Bamberg, Germany.
