This Week, Chick Goes To A Legendary Rat Pack Era Restaurant And Than Around Town For More Beauties!
The late ’50s Rocker Freddy Bell once told me about this restaurant on Sahara Ave, that had the best aged steaks in town and has been the spot to eat for the Rat pack era guys, Sammy Frank & Dean not to mention Bobby Daren, Louis Prima & even Elvis Presley and many other big names since 1958. It is the Golden Steer Steak House.
I was trying to find a nice place to take my wife Stella for our 15th wedding anniversary, when I remembered what Freddy told me. So we went to the Golden Steer and as you open the front door, it is just like stepping back into the 1950s. The bar is like something out of the old west, but it’s warm and welcoming with a piano player, playing old standards. A great place to have a whisky, just like Frankie & Dean would do...
Each booth has a brass plate telling patrons who use to sit there. We were seated in Joe DiMaggio’s booth right across from Marilyn Monroe’s booth. Dinner was just scrumptious! I had the aged charbroiled 16 oz. bone-in, rib-eye steak and my wife had the delicious veal. The help was warm and very friendly and at the end of the meal, they came over to us with a great piece of cheesecake and a sparkler to celebrate our anniversary! I highly recommend going to the Golden Steer Steakhouse if you want a great steak and some 1950s ambience. The Golden Steer Steakhouse is located at 308 N. Sahara Ave.
