Titus: DOE Report Highlights Impact of Recovery Act on Clean Energy in Nevada

September 15, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District highlighted today a new report by the Department of Energy that details the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on clean energy projects in Nevada. According to the report, Nevada has received nearly $569 million in funding for projects such as renewable energy generation, weatherizing homes and businesses, rebates for Energy Star appliances, and modernizing electricity infrastructure.

“Investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency is critical to our efforts to diversify Nevada’s economy and put people back to work,” Congresswoman Titus said. “The funds in the Recovery Act have increased our ability to utilize our abundant renewable resources and created jobs that cannot be shipped overseas. Investments in clean energy that have both created jobs and lowered energy costs for Nevada’s families and businesses are a win-win for the Silver State.”

Titus Statement on the Anniversary of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks

September 10, 2010 – Henderson, NV – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District released the following statement in advance of the ninth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

“The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, that took the lives of 3,000 innocent victims shook the foundation of our nation. While we continue to mourn the friends, family, and countrymen who were lost that day, we also honor their memory and reflect on the effort of the American people who came together as one community to respond to these heinous attacks.

“In an instant we saw the worst of humanity, yet in the aftermath we saw the best America has to offer as people from every corner of the country joined together, standing up to volunteer in service to our nation, rebuilding the physical damage from the attacks and re-invigorating the American spirit. As we recognize the ninth anniversary of these attacks, let us renew that spirit of service and community.

“Today as we remember those who lost their life and those whose lives were forever impacted, we also honor the brave men and women who have served and those who continue to serve in our armed forces to uphold the freedoms and values we hold dear and to protect us from those who still wish to do us harm. Their sacrifice and their service in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks are nothing short of heroic.”
