State Sen. Bob Beers is a 35-year Nevadan running for Governor this year. He is the "father" of the Tax and Spending Control (TASC) initiative, which limits government spending increases to the percentage of population growth plus inflation, unless voters approve an additional increase. He is also the vice chairman of the Nevada Senate Finance Committee.
Beers has spent the last eight years fighting to help Nevada families keep more of their paychecks. Despite his success in the legislature, state government continues to grow more than twice as fast as the population, which creates added tax burdens on Nevada's families, retirees, and businesses.
Thousands of Nevada voters have now asked Beers to run for governor, where he may do the most good.
Beers earned a business degree from UNLV with distinction, has owned and operated a respected computer consulting company, and is a certified public accountant (CPA). He and his wife, Sarah, have two children.
