Street Facts from Las Vegas. . .

Rumor or Fact?  By early 2007 IVLV expects Harrods, the legendary London retail shopping department store giant to make an announcement they are expanding to Las Vegas.  For more than a year Harrods owner, Mohamed al-Fayed, has been in talks with various Las Vegas casino owners and developers.  Mohamed al-Fayed also owns the Paris Ritz, so he is fully aware of how to deliver quality and service.  Don't be surprised to see an ultra casino/shopping experience coming to Vegas very soon.  Bring it on, you got the IVLV vote of approval, this city can always use another quality casino/store complex.

December 8, 2007 is getting closer and for those of you caught up in the holiday spirit, that is the day the smoking ban goes into effect for the state of Nevada.  In case you missed it, two weeks ago Nevadans voted to ban smoking in any bars that serve meals, as well as in slot machine sections of grocery and convenience stores, and at video arcades, shopping malls, school grounds and day care centers.  Casinos will only be affected in their restaurants, which will all be non smoking now.  The local corner tavern with 15 slots may be the most affected because they will not be allowed to serve food and allow gambling and smoking, and we all know food and smoking will go away long before they remove the slot machines.

Continuously raising the bar on Las Vegas nightlife, The Palms Casino unveiled more information this week for their multimillion dollar, state-of-the-art concert theater. Aptly named The Pearl, the one-of-a-kind venue currently under construction. The intimate venue is designed to be a true modern marvel of technology and innovation beginning with seating design. The Pearl’s capacity can easily adjust to accommodate from 1,100 to 2,400 guests. In addition, the floor will allow for seated concert viewing or general admission standing room audiences. With no seating obstructions, the farthest seat from the stage will be a mere 120 feet away. Two 14-foot by 16-foot video screens will be located on each side of the stage for close up looks at the on-stage action with additional plasma screens located throughout the concourse areas. The Pearl has three levels of seating. The state-of-the-art venue features 18 private and semi-private sky boxes.  The Pearl is expected to open in the Spring of 2007.

Good Luck in Las Vegas!
