The Contemporary Arts Collective has generously donated space to exhibit
artwork completed by the children of The Shade Tree as part of its “Art in
the Shade” program. This program provides children residing at the shelter
with a non-threatening means of creative expression and helps to increase
self-esteem.
The children’s “mini-masterpieces” will be on display from now through
Christmas Eve and will be featured during the “First Friday” event December
1st. The Shade Tree will host a special reception on December 8th
from 6 to 8 PM, with staff available to share stories of inspiration behind
the art pieces and answer questions about the program. This reception is
open to the public.

In addition to
providing display space, the Contemporary Arts Collective will also donate
to The Shade Tree a portion of the membership fees for any new art patron
joining their organization during the exhibition period. The Contemporary
Arts Collective is located at 231 W. Charleston Boulevard, Suite 110, in the
Holsum Loft Building, “Gateway to the Arts District”.
The Shade Tree is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide safe
shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and to offer
life-changing services promoting stability, dignity and self-reliance.
