National men’s magazines seem to be taking a hit on newsstands these days. Closely following Maxim Magazine’s page reduction to the print edition of its highly followed publication is the news that FHM will cease hardcopy printing of its publication, instead focusing its efforts as an online magazine. Is anyone out there planning on subscribing to FHM Online? Yeah, we didn’t think so …

Apple Computers and iTunes featured Las Vegas DJ and local favorite DJ Scotty Boy in an article about the electronic DJ revolution that is helping make vinyl records a thing of the past. Because of weight, transport and cost issues, Scotty Boy is just one of dozens of DJs who have ditched vinyl and CDs in favor of his Mac Notebook. “Now when I travel, I take my laptop and my headphones, that's it," he said.  “It's loaded with over 7,000 songs. I can handle any party or club, no problem. It's really magic in a box.”

Reports out of Israel have diamond dealers abuzz about the possibility of a diamond exchange being part of the upcoming 12-story World Jewelry Center, with 10-15 Israeli diamond firms being approached to buy property in the tower that is expected to open 2010. “I’m leaning in that direction right now,” noted the project’s managing director, William Boyajian.

On Tuesday, more than 50 youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas will enjoy lunch and visits with Santa Claus in the fine dining, student-run restaurant at Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas, Café Blue. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., children, ages 6 to 9 from four different valley clubs, including Gaughn, North Las Vegas, Reynolds and Snyder, will have lunch and decorate sugar cookies made by the school’s backing and party students. Café Blue is located at 1451 Center Crossing Road.

Tickets are now on sale at the Mandalay Bay Events Center box office for the 2007 concert tour of Rascal Flatts “Me and My Gang.” The concert will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on March 10, featuring Jason Aldean as the opening act. Rascal Flatts’ highly anticipated new album, “Me and My Gang,” was released earlier this year and debuted as No. 1 on the Nielsen’s Soundscan Top 200 album chart and the country album chart, making it the highest-selling CD across all genres.
