I was a guest of "The
Sixth Annual Las Vegas Odyssey Four-Day Food, Wine and Arts Lifestyle
Event." Unless I am in a competitive eating contest, I never think of
food as an event. However, these people really take their food
seriously, and after stuffing myself Sunday, November 13th, the closing
day of the four day event, I am hoping for an invitation to ALL four days in next
year's Odyssey.

I have to get out more, it seems new things are being built
in Las Vegas virtually overnight. This event was held at the Dragon
Ridge Country Club. I never heard of it, but what do I know? This
place is in the mountains, south of town, in Henderson; you'd take I-215
to Stephanie Street South, until it ends. The Dragon Ridge Country Club
is a beautiful Country Club, with great city views.
Billed as a charity event, your $75 contribution goes to Le
Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, National Center for Missing &
Exploited Children and my good friend Shirley's organization, Helping
Hands of Vegas Valley. |

For
your contribution, you received an orgy of food, booze, with two great
blues bands playing throughout the afternoon, setting the mood. The
food was outstanding; giant shrimp and crab legs, every conceivable cut
of meat including, pork, lamb, beef and even Elk including all the fancy desserts you
could eat. In anticipation of the afternoon and my expanded waistline, I wore my Hager
stretch pants. |

I was sitting at a real power table; with me were, Nate
Tannenbaum, our own Channel 13 weatherman; the wonderful singer
Michaelina; and David Tully of the Australian Trade Commission to
name just a few. This was a great group, Nate even demonstrated how to
tie a bow tie, and he did it without a mirror.
The Las Vegas Odyssey was a good deal. Food like this is
not available anywhere else in Las Vegas, at any price. You can eat
all the great food you want, drink wine until you need a taxi to
take you home, and hear good music. Don't miss this event next
year. If you want to go, or be a sponsor next year, call
702-257-2345, tell them Kid Cary sent you. My thanks to the people
of the Las Vegas Odyssey 2005, Virginia & Mark Martino for a very
pleasant afternoon. |
