* Country superstar George Strait returns to Las Vegas for a Super Bowl weekend performance live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, February 4, 2006. The in-the-round concert is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. and Tracy Lawrence is the opening act. Tickets are $50–$95 and go on sale October 8 at 10:00 a.m.

* IVLV this week has completed a unique deal with the world famous Splash Show at the Riviera. This 13-time winner of "Show of the Year."

* Blue Man Group opens an updated version of their show in a custom-built, 1760-seat theatre at The Venetian Casino on October 10, 2005. Tickets are $75–$110 and shows are performed nightly at 7:00 p.m. and/or 10:00 p.m.

* Las Vegas comedian and magician Mac King partners with Barnes & Noble in creating the official Mac King's Magic in a Minute Suitcase O' Magic. Due out in November, it includes 50+ magic tricks, a 64-page book and a one-hour instructional DVD. Intended for kids eight and older, it will sell for $14.95.

* Rumor has it that Mix nightclub, located on top of The Hotel at Mandalay Bay Casino is about to reopen after their renovations. This will no doubt become a hot spot overnight.

* This week Krave, the only Las Vegas Strip alternative club turned one year old.

* The Sirens of TI perform free nightly at 5:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in Sirens' Cove at the front of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. The show will be closed for maintenance December 5–24 inclusive.

* Station Casinos Group has purchased a total of 67 acres of land which includes the Wild, Wild West Casino property and several surrounding acres. Rumor has it they are going to build a larger than normal Station Casino on this property.

* Hypnolarious, staring Michelle VanRee, and Hypnosis Gone Wild, are pleased to announce their new home at the "Hypnotic Lounge" at the Stardust Casino. Hypnolarious is a five night per week PG-13 rated show starring Michelle VanRee and Deogee, the hypnotic puppy. Hypnosis Gone Wild is a none children version of the Terry Stokes touring show. Michelle will perform in Hypnolarious at 8:00 p.m., five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Hypnosis Gone Wild will perform seven nights a week at 10:00 p.m., with alternating hypnotists. Tickets will still be priced at $39.95, plus.

* World Record Attempt...The Great Santa Run (the largest Santa gathering) serves as a fund-raising effort to benefit Opportunity Village. The first 4,500 participants will receive a five-piece Santa costume. Freemont Street Experience is the location of this upcoming event and registration fees are $25 before November 30, and $75 on race day, December 3. The current world record was set in December 2004 with 4,260 participants in the Newton and District Dial-A-Ride in the UK.

* Do you want a chance to work in one of the upcoming hottest nightclubs/restaurants in Las Vegas? On November 14–15 at 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., inside the Danny Gans Theatre you can get an interview for the new Jet Nightclub and Stack Restaurant that will be opening in December 2005. They are hiring bartenders, cocktail and food servers, go-go dancers, promoters, VIP hosts, kitchen staff, security personnel and bar backs.

* "Mr. Las Vegas," Wayne Newton, is bringing his holiday show to the Flamingo Casino on November 24 through December 23.

* The ultimate happy hour has hit Las Vegas. The adult gentlemen's club Scores now has daily a 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. happy hour where ALL food and drink is free for Las Vegas locals.

* The 2005 Billboard Music Awards will be held this year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 6. Tickets are on sale now at the MGM Grand, with pricing from $50–$175.

* Tropicana Casino announced this week they are extending the popular attraction, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition through January 31, 2006. More than a hundred thousand visitors have seen the 25,000-square-foot exhibit that takes visitors on a chronological journey through the life of the Titanic, from the building of the legend to life on board. Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., ticket prices are: Adults (age 12–61) $16.95, Seniors (ages 62 and up) $15.95, Nevada Residents $13.95, and Children (age 4–11) $9.95.

* Pop music icon Billy Joel will launch his first solo major concert tour in nearly seven years beginning with concerts in Florida in January 2006. He will return to Las Vegas Saturday, April 8, 2006 to perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at 8:00 p.m. Tickets priced at $175, $125 and $75 go on sale Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office.

* Poker fans mark your calendar…The 2nd annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Lifestyle Show is scheduled for, July 27–31, 2006 at the Rio Casino. The inaugural year of the WSOP Lifestyle Show premiered with approximately 50,000 poker fans attended.

* The National Finals Rodeo 10-day annual event has extended their contract with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to run through 2014. LVCA has agreed to pay $2 million a year on a split revenue program.

* Since Lake Mead's water level has drastically lowered due to drought over the past two years, many items are now being recovered from the lake's floor. This has National Park Service in a not so happy mode. The Park Service has sought legal protection to keep vandals and salvage specialists from removing historical items for the Lake.

* Famous young poker player Daniel Negreanu and the Wynn Las Vegas Casino have parted ways. Negreanu was originally hired to exclusively play at the Wynn, kind of a Poker Ambassador. After a few months Negreanu wanted to play in other big games around Las Vegas and the split occurred last week.

* Master magician and illusionist David Copperfield returns to MGM Grand's intimate 740-seat Hollywood Theatre with his latest stage production show, An Intimate Evening Of Grand Illusion. Copperfield will perform December 21 through January 5, 2006. Tickets are priced at $97 inclusive.

* The proposed Ivanpah Airport located 30-miles south of Las Vegas is going to become a reality. The $4 billion dollar project is scheduled to be completed by 2017. Since McCarran Airport cannot expand due to the fact of housing developments and surrounding businesses, this new airport will help take the load of increasing flights to southern Nevada.

* Popular alternative band Coldplay will bring their "Twisted Logic" tour to Las Vegas Friday, February 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. and tickets priced at $90, $60 and $40, tickets go on sale Saturday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office.

* The two greatest UFC fighters enter the Octagon for the third time February 4, 2006 at Mandalay Bay Casino, one of them will be crowned the all-time ultimate light-heavyweight. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell and Randy "The Natural" Couture are both looking to score a second win over one-another and tickets cost $700, $400, $300, $200 and $100.

* Studio 54 Nightclub inside the MGM Grand continues to reinvent itself as it nears their 8-year anniversary. This upgrade will feature a new facelift including a new entry way, fiber optic chandeliers, an exclusive VIP lounge and dance floor and more.

* Renowned restaurateur Chef Joseph Keller announces his latest dining concept, Bistro Zinc, set to open January 2006. A cornerstone of Monte Lago Village at Lake Las Vegas, the restaurant will bring Bayou flair to the village where patrons can dine at a leisurely pace and experience sounds of Zydeco, and aromas and tastes of Cajun flavors.

* Thanksgiving night saw no opening of the proposed Wayne Newton show scheduled to open at the Flamingo. Rumor has it that problems with the musicians union could not be solved and the show did not go on as planned. The show is expected to open soon.

* The Carmel Room at the Rampart Casino at The Resort at Summerlin presents the third series of the Wine Maker's Dinner on Monday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. The evening will feature several selections from Elyse Winery paired with a menu carefully crafted by the Rampart chefs. The cost is $115 per person excluding gratuities.

* Heidi Fleiss has told the media that she wants to open a Nevada "stud farm" for all the females. As you may know, several counties in Nevada have legalized prostitution, but never has anyone attempted the reverse, male prostitutes. Time will tell if she can pull this unusual business off or if it just another publicity stunt.

* Speaking of gossip, nobody was but I thought it was a great way to get your attention…The newest Las Vegas rumor is that Nick Lachey, other half of Jessica Simpson, will serve each other with divorce papers before years' end. They officially split this week. Maybe it was that Jessica Biel evening conversation last month that help spark the problems.

* Las Vegas is twice as bright as New York's Rockefeller Center? Caesars Palace is scheduled for this coming Monday at 6:00 p.m. to light up their 60-foot Christmas tree. The tree will be adorned with 216,510 multicolored lights. This is more than twice the number of lights on the famed New York tree.

* Thanks for the calls of concern this week, but yours truly, Richard Reed is alive and still operating Insider Viewpoint of Las Vegas. This week however, a Richard Reid did fall to his death at the construction site of the new South Coast Casino.

* After a year of closure, the Red Spring picnic area in Calico Basin has reopened this week. More than $1.3 million was spent on the renovations. For those of you who are not familiar with this great picnic spot it is open daily 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and is only 3.5 miles west of the Las Vegas Beltway off of Charleston Blvd.
